Meet the team
Hi, we are Murray and Bev Jans. We are the owners/operators of Diamond in the Rough Wedding and Events Venue. We were told that we could skip posting our age, so we’re going with that!
Our hobbies and interests include our horses, camping, my mini donkeys, Murray’s hunting and fishing, but most of all, our 4 beautiful grandkids! Murray always says we should have had them first!
We have been married for 35 years this year and both feel so fortunate to have had one another, our best friend at our side since the day we said “I Do!” We remember our wedding day with fond memories and smiles on our faces. The hope of our family is that Diamond in the Rough can play a part in helping create those fond memories for others.
We have farmed cattle together for the past 34 years. This last spring, we decided as a family, that we were ready to make a change. It has been a journey and a dream come true.
The journey that we will forever treasure, has been having all of our kids at our sides transforming the farm into a “Diamond in the Rough”. You have been meeting them in prior posts over the past few days. What you don’t know about them is that they are hard working, dedicated and caring young adults that make us so very proud to call ours! Without them, the idea nor the work it has taken to bring the dream to life would ever have been possible.
I’m the voice behind our social media accounts. I also take a portion of the email and online replies.
I’m the 3rd oldest (or 2nd youngest) in our family of 6! I am nearly 26 years old and the worlds proudest Aunty to 1 nephew and 3 beautiful nieces.
I work for Alberta Health Services in Innisfail Home Care. As our business grows, I will be transitioning to a nearly full time position at our venue!
I love the outdoors and spend as much time as I can hiking and camping in my summers. My faith is my everything, so you can usually find me at CrossRoads Church on any given Sunday evening. I have the worlds sweetest boyfriend who I’ve been lucky enough to love for the last 3 years.
That’s me in a quick nut shell!
But I hope to get to know all our couples better one on one, planning their special day at Diamond in the Rough in 2020!
Hi my name is Leah and my role at Diamond in the Rough has been the website designer, landscape enthusiast as well as I assist with email response and bookings.
I am 30 years old and I am the second oldest child in our family.
I have been in the Social Work field for over 10 year mainly working with victims of domestic violence. I now work for Alberta Health Services at the Red Deer Hospital. I have a Bachelors Degree in Social Work which supports my love of working with people.
The first love of mine has been travelling, I have always been planning for the next trip. My favourite place in the world will always be Iceland. You will always hear me recommend it when talking about travel.
Since Diamond in the Rough became a part of our family I have been so excited to inspire our new landscape. I have been working on beautiful gardens, and flower beds that will compliment your dream wedding and photos.
I am so excited to be apart of this new chapter at Diamond in the Rough. I look forward to making dreams come true and to be the smile welcoming you to our venue.
