Perfect Farm Venue

We recently got married at the farm on August 31,2024. We loved every minute of our special day. We worked with Naomi and Shirley to plan our special day. We loved how everything was planned down to the smallest detail. On our big day we had Paige as our day of coordinator and she made sure everything ran smoothly. She was excellent! The farm has many gorgeous locations to take lots of photos on your special day, so you will not be disappointed with photos. Huge shout out to the chef and his team as our meal was perfect! It was absolutely delicious, we chose the chicken and upgraded to the brisket (highly recommend) for dessert we opted to have the cool pies (key lime and chocolate peanut butter) honestly loved them so much. We taste tested all the pie flavours from Dyment’s market to narrow down our choices. If you are considering this venue I would highly recommend making it your top choice! They will ensure your day is perfect and exactly what you want!!

A fairy tail wedding

Our wedding on August 24, 2024 was an absolute dream. From the time we booked the venue (back in 2022) to the actual wedding day Alex and Naomi have been incredibly helpful. We are so blessed to have had our wedding at this venue it was everything we wanted from the barn feel to the outdoor wedding to the little touches throughout that made this day a dream come true. Our guests absolutely loved the food and the ambience of the 3 separate barns. I wouldn’t have wanted to get married anywhere else (we only toured this one venue and knew it was the one).

Everything we could have hoped for

We were married at Dyment's in September and choosing this as our venue was definitely one of the best decisions we made. I can't say enough good about GDF and would absolutely recommend to anyone.

The property is absolutely incredible and the vibe was exactly what we were looking for. From being married on the peak to having poutine by the fire or dancing on the dance floor, it was a perfect combination of rustic charm and elegant beauty.

Then there's the food - we received so many comments from guests, the mac and cheese balls were definitely the best we've ever had. There are so many options to choose from, allowing us to have something for everyone, and everything was phenomenal.

Being able to bring our own alcohol sounded daunting at first but ended up being a plus. We were able to choose exactly what we wanted. The venue had their own bartenders, who were amazing, and Naomi provided a calculator to help us plan accordingly.

But Dyments is so much more than just a beautiful venue. The time, effort and care that the team puts into their weddings makes is evident. Planning a wedding can be stressful but we felt supported from start to finish. From the initial meetings with Shirley/Alexandra to our final meetings with Naomi, every question was responded to quickly and thoroughly. Rebecca was so organized, making sure everything ran smoothly at the rehearsal and day of. Thanks to them, every detail was considered and executed exactly as discussed.

To the entire team, we couldn't be more grateful for everything that you did. Dyments not only made our wedding day possible but made it everything we dreamed of. Thank you!!

A Beautiful Venue for our Perfect Day

We had our wedding at GDF in September 2023. It was fabulous! The farm is absolutely gorgeous! We were fortunate to have beautiful, sunny weather on our wedding day. Our ceremony was perfect; the DJ played all of the music we had on our list. And Naomi was our Day of Coordinator and she was SO helpful!! She was just fantastic. 😃 She helped guide us through all of the different stages of our day with ease. Again, the DJ was awesome! We were very happy with his services. The food was delicious and all of our guests were very happy with the everything from the appetizers to the meal to the yummy pie dessert bar. One thing I really love about this venue is it almost decorates itself with its own beauty. We added our own flowers and deco, but you don't need a lot because the barns and courtyard area are beautiful. We truly cannot say enough about GDF, we are so thankful to have had our beautiful wedding there. It was a perfect day. 🙂

Beautiful venue, great food, professional staff

We had a beautiful and unforgettable wedding day at the farm. Many of our guests commented on how unique and gorgeous the venue was. Naomi and her team were excellent to work with, they were organized, and extremely helpful. I unfortunately sprained my ankle shortly after our first dance. The venue’s team was quick to find first aid supplies and ice so that I was able to dance all evening despite the injury.

The food was excellent. The venue has an efficient way of providing all guests food in a timely manner with a served buffet style. We also liked that we could stock the bar ourselves which saved us some money. One thing to note is the venue bar does not serve shots or drinks that contain only alcohol (including cocktails), they must be mixed with a non alcoholic beverage. This wasn’t an issue for us or our guests.

We had a band and DJ for our reception. The DJ - Ruby Entertainment comes with the venue package. He was easy to work with and very kind. He collaborated smoothly with our wedding band for the ceremony music and reception. Another small note is that the DJ does not play explicit music during the reception. He was good with taking requests though and playing music on a list that we provided him with prior to the event.

Married August 28, 2022

With the help of our day of coordinator (Rebecca) we had very little to worry about during the day. Even when things were falling behind schedule when family was running late, Rebecca did an amazing job getting everyone caught up to schedule and we never felt rushed.

We decided to choose the in-house option for the officiant who also provides the DJ services for the venue. We had a great experience with him and received a lot of compliments from our guests. The only comment we would share is that the he is a little disorganized and makes a lot of mistakes. We would caution everyone to double and triple check the paperwork.

The venue itself does come with a lot of strict rules and regulations and a lot of extra steps that you may necessarily not need to take if going with other venues (applying for SOP licences, PAL insurance, etc.) it is also extra money that you will have to factor into your budget.
If you are someone who can go with a simplified bar (like we did); it can save you a lot of money compared to open bars at other venues. We opted for 2 types of beer, a whiskey, a gin, wine, and a signature cocktail that was vodka based. There was never an issue about running out of alcohol and even got some money back returning unopened alcohol.

With all that being said, we had a fantastic time and all our guests had so much fun and all complimented how beautiful the venue is. The bartenders were great and it was such a fantastic experience.

Incredible ceremony

We chose to have our ceremony at Glen Drummond Farm because of the beautiful Peak and amazing photo background. We had access from the farm from 11am to 2pm. Everyone had an incredible experience and raved about how beautiful it was (despite it being the hottest day of the year)! They had the most incredible vendors to work with - we hired their preferred ceremony DJ, officiant, and photographer. The farm was the perfect backdrop for our photos and the staff (namely Naomi and Shirley) were so unbelievably helpful in the planning and during the event. We had the best ceremony there and are so overjoyed with how everything went. Thank you!!!

A Fairytale Wedding

Wow. This venue was nothing short of amazing. I had a very specific idea in mind of what my special day would look like & Dyment's delivered on all accounts. From the planning, to tastings & the coordination of the day of, everything was flawless. One of the compliments we heard most from our guests was how incredibly beautiful the venue was. This was one of the best & easiest decisions of the entire wedding planning process for me. Stunning views, incredible food, & a space that was inviting to all guests. Would recommend over and over again.

A very honest review of Dyment’s Glen Drummond Farm

We got married at Glen Drummond Farm in May of 2022. We don’t necessarily regret having our wedding here, but we think it’s important that people know the facts before signing the contract.

PROS:
- Beautiful: the peak ceremony site is especially gorgeous and the venue is just as beautiful, if not more so, than it appears in photos
- Quality food: after the tasting, our expectations were low. But we were pleasantly surprised on the day of!
- Unique: we loved the fact that a wagon took the guests to and from the ceremony site (and along the edge of the escarpment, what a beautiful view). There were also lawn games and a fire pit for the end of the night. Multiple guests commented on how cool the venue was and said that they felt like they were at a music festival

CONS:
- Sooo many rules: Some of the rules were made apparent to us before signing. Such as shots are not allowed and hard liquor must be served with non-alcoholic mix. However, there were many rules that were sprung on us after the fact. For example, drinks cannot have more than 1oz of alcohol. This made choosing signature cocktails very difficult, and we were not able to have the signature cocktails that we desired. Another rule that was not told to us before signing was you are not allowed to play music with swear words in it (you have to play the clean versions). These are just a few examples. Overall, the rules made us feel more like a burden than valued guests. It was very apparent that they cared more about liability than pleasing their clients. We were very much treated like children rather than adults who were paying 10s of thousands of dollars for their services.
- The DJ: They require that you use Ruby Entertainment for your DJ services. Initially we were pleased with this, we had decided to have karaoke during the wedding and Ruby Entertainment has experience with this. However, on the day of, the music was a mess. Wrong songs were played and queues were missed for the walk up songs during the speeches and the first dance. Then, for the dancing/karaoke part of the evening, the karaoke machine stopped working after just 4 songs (we paid extra for this and were not offered a discount/reimbursement). There were long periods of time where the DJ was nowhere to be seen. One of the songs even played twice in a row. Requests that guests were making were ignored (or he wasn’t there to receive them). The transitions were horrible. The DJ played quite a few songs that weren’t on the playlist we provided him and weren’t well received by guests. One of our guests went up to the abandoned DJ booth to change the song twice. The DJ threw a fit and shut down the party early. The groom was able to fix the situation by agreeing to kick the guest out. Although we do not condone our guest’s behaviour, this would not have happened if the DJ was doing his job and was present in his booth. The DJ was our biggest disappointment on our wedding day.

It is a shame because there are so many positives about this venue. We hope that, by seeing this, the venue will change some of its rules and potentially hire a different DJ company. In the meantime, we would just recommend bringing up these concerns before booking, and potentially having them adjust their contract to exclude some of these rules and potentially allow you to bring in your own DJ.

We hope for those reading this review, that we can provide context on this wedding so that it is in fact truly a fair review. We are truly very sorry that you had any negatives to write about, we want every wedding to feel like a magical experience. We appreciate your positive comments about the unique venue set up, ceremony site, and food. In regards to the negative comments about venue rules, we are a professional, legal venue and as such have to follow the rules outlined by Ontario law, Smartserve, and rules to keep the venue/our staff safe (just like most other law abiding venues).

We have yet to have any negative feedback regarding not serving doubles but we are sorry if that caught you off guard. Usually [until now], when we have the no shots convo which is typical at outdoor venues, the couples don’t anticipate or want doubles either. As can be seen in our other reviews, people have a great time and it's an open bar, so alcohol is not limited, guests can come up for more drinks! We just don’t double serve in one go. Similarly, we have not previously had to mention that we play clean versions of songs – it’s never been a notable topic. We do fully agree with you – if drinking doubles and/or ensuring the F word or other curses are played explicitly at the wedding is important to the couple, we aren’t going to be a good fit as a venue.

It is upsetting to hear you didn’t feel like valued guests because of the rules we have in place, as we really do strive to make everyone enjoy their planning process with us. You are correct again that we do have to prioritize liability and safety over just pleasing the client. We can’t throw the rules out the window or operate unsafely simply because that would make the client happy, regardless of what they are paying. So no, we cannot change the rules in place and we will continue to work with couples that are comfortable with these rules to have the best experience for their wedding day.

As for the DJ situation, we see that the karaoke machine did have a tech failure confirmed by our venue staff. We spoke with the owner of Ruby Entertainment about this and he was very apologetic as this is a very rare. He said that he is happy to reimburse you for this but that he was never actually contacted by you regarding this issue until seeing this review. It would have been fair to contact him to discuss first before publicly saying you wouldn’t be reimbursed.

In regards, to the songs played, fortunately the DJ’s system actually records and timestamps the songs that are played each night. We had them reviewed and the songs played were from your list and the ones that were not on your list were requests by your guests. This can be a difficult thing for a DJ, because an aunt or cousin comes up and asks for a song that maybe isn’t a crowd pleaser – the DJ plays it and then takes the heat from the other guests who don’t like that song.

Lastly, you mention that someone went up into the DJ booth twice to change the songs, and that the DJ threw a fit and shut down the party. A truly fair review would mention that this guest was intimidating and insulting the DJ, then went up into this booth and messed around with his expensive equipment while the DJ went to the bathroom. The guest was given a stern warning the first time to not touch the DJ’s stuff. The DJ went to the bar (while he had a song playing for you) to ask the bartenders what they saw the guest do in his booth. While investigating this he turned around and your disorderly guest had gotten back into the booth messing with his equipment yet again. This was at about 12:15pm and the last song played for this evening was supposed to be 12:30am. The DJ was worried about himself as well as his equipment so he shut down the music until that guest was removed (so 15 minutes early from the planned end time). We were then told by people from your wedding, that this was actually expected behaviour from this guest, affirming the action we were taking to have him removed. We were grateful when the guest was removed, and then the venue offered to extend the evening so that you could have one more song played even though we were past 12:30am. We wanted to leave it on a high note for you despite the unruly guest. As can be seen in many of our reviews on Google and on Weddingwire, Ruby Entertainment is a very well liked DJ company and often gets specific shout outs for having a packed dance floor, a great planning process, etc. This is why we work with them and why they are part of the package at the farm.
