  Beautiful wedding day @ barn 1906

  Our day was absolutely beautiful and couldn’t have asked for more perfect venue. Everything was too my expectations, the barn was set up exactly as I visioned and was so happy.
  The barn 1906 offers ceremony location, reception area is picture perfect and the photo opportunities are stunning. The grounds are perfectly manicured to high expectations.
  The bridal suite is beautiful and wonderful space to get ready and relax while you wait for the ceremony time.
  The accommodated us in various ways allowing us to make precious memories.
  The bartenders and staff were very friendly and great to work with.
  The setting up and taking everything down for you saves you time and not having to be away from your guests, enjoy your dance/party time.
  Highly recommend reaching out to Kim, Laura and Monica to pick your date. They are very informative and have good suggestions for you.
  I did everything myself did not rent anything.
  Our day was perfect and neither of us would change anything. This is because we hired a great venue and catering that’s goal is to make sure you have a stress free day.

  An Incredible Place To Work!

  I’ve had the pleasure of working at The Barn 1906 for the past 4+ years, and I can honestly say it’s been a great experience. The venue itself is absolutely stunning which provides the perfect backdrop for any wedding. Management is approachable and encouraging, which makes it a joy to come to work. What I love most is how dedicated everyone is to creating the best experience for our couples and their guests. It’s truly rewarding to be part of such a passionate and professional team. If you’re looking for a beautiful wedding venue with a fantastic team, The Barn 1906 is definitely a place to consider!

  Beautiful venue, subpar experience

  My intention with this review is to be open, honest, and transparent about my wedding experience at The Barn 1906 so that I can help future brides make well-informed decisions. I honestly thought when I first hired them I’d be giving them 5/5 stars and would have nothing but positive things to say, but unfortunately, my experience was not that. A lot of what went wrong was completely avoidable if 1) they communicated effectively, and 2) didn’t bite off more than they can chew. Unfortunately because they are so business driven, the quality of service they were able to provide me did not suffice. Below are some events that you can be the judge of:
  
  1. They advertise on their socials and tell you in person that they are your go-to built in wedding planner that will help you throughout your entire wedding planning journey. I know other brides have mentioned on here as well, but unfortunately, that was also not true for my experience. We were waiting weeks, and sometimes months for a response about very basic things which was very frustrating for myself and my fiancé. If they were just open and honest from the get go, it could’ve saved a lot of unnecessary stress and frustration. Another example is how they said they were going to help set up flowers after I reached out about it, and then the day of my wedding told me they weren’t going to help me anymore so I spent 2 hours with my bridesmaids trying to do it all when I was supposed to be doing other things.
  2. Many of my decorations that I spent a lot of time making, and money purchasing, were either tossed by them or never returned (some of which I had pre-arranged to sell after my wedding). As well, I spent 7 years saving rose petals that my husband bought me over our relationship and they lost 4 bags full of them. They were supposed to be part of my wedding decor. How do you lose a very special, intimate, and important piece of someone’s wedding?
  3. The day of my wedding a lot of their staff were incredibly rude to both myself and my guests which unfortunately led to a lot of people leaving my wedding early. For example, I had a few family members with health conditions that required a seat during the dancing part of the night but their staff cleared the tables, took their drinks and cups (our favours) away, and told them they had to leave… this was at 10pm and our contract was until 1am.
  4. Another thing that was highly annoying was their staff stopped serving alcohol at 11pm and even refused to give out nonalcoholic drinks because they wanted to “clean up” (again, against our contract with them). In continuation with that, when we were cleaning up, we tried to take our empties with us since we provided our own alcohol, and the worker ripped the box out of a guest’s hand and told us that they keep all of our empties. I tried asking the owners about this, but didn’t get a response for over a month and then never got a reply again to my ensuing message.
  5. Their staff forgot to pack up all of our rentals and so we had to drive 2 hours back to the venue, another hour to drop off items at the rental store, and then 3 hours back home which was a major inconvenience for us.
  6. Over half of my guests didn’t get their favors, and the owners tried to make up lies blaming my 90 year old grandmother to cover the fact that their staff made a mistake. There was zero ownership on them as the owners. I understand that a lot of things that took place were not the actual owners’ fault. It was their staff’s fault. However, when you own a business you are responsible for your workers, and so if they do something that they shouldn’t do, you are ultimately responsible for them. They are a reflection of you and your business and they reflected them poorly. As a business owner, I would expect you to take accountability and reach out asking how you can make this right, but that never happened.
  7. On the day of our rehearsal, and on my wedding day, they had multiple couples on site touring the venue. These guests got in our way multiple times and EVEN TRIED TO FORCE THEIR WAY INTO MY BRIDAL SUITE THE MORNING OF MY WEDDING (like excuse me, what?!). I found this to be completely disrespectful and an invasion of our privacy. Although I understand you are a business, I have paid for your venue for the day and during my contract hours you shouldn’t be imposing yourselves on the space that I’ve paid for.
  8. They ask you to complete a questionnaire and write/draw out specific details for setup, timeline, etc. I spent countless hours across many days creating documents that were well organized, clearly mapped out, and none of it was followed at all. They set up everything completely wrong and my bridesmaids and I had to fix it all.
  
  I know there’s a lot of “problems” above, but at the end of the day, I loved having my wedding at this venue. It’s a gorgeous place and the venue speaks for itself so you don’t really need a lot of decorations to make it look pretty. I would still recommend this place, but just know that you are completely on your own and I personally wouldn’t trust them with being responsible for setting up your wedding and packing things up appropriately. I would suggest you designate someone or hire someone so that what I experienced could be avoided. Monica, Laura, and Kim (owners) are very kind people and the main reason I chose to go with them was because they made you feel like family from the moment you stepped on their venue (which was completely different than any of the other 15+ venues we looked at). I don’t want to take away from the fact that they are really nice people, but I wish they wouldn’t have promised the things they did because that led to a lot of disappointment and frustration on my wedding day. I hope this can be helpful for brides who are making very important decisions on a day you dream about your entire life.

  Wedding at the barn 1906

  We just had our wedding here two weeks ago- it was amazing and so beautiful! The day went perfectly, and the barn is flexible and handles a lot for you. I do not have many complaints, their team is great and we had an amazing wedding.
  
  Two things I will note before booking with the barn - it is very hard to get ahold of the coordinators. I was under the impression when booking that the barn would be available to help but it would at times take 2+ weeks to get responses to very simple questions.
  Also, there is a very pricey bar fee included in the price of the venue which is supposed to include the tip for the bartenders. We were told that bartenders would NOT accept tips at the wedding, but they had multiple tip jars out during the day. Not a big deal but was a little weird considering they mentioned that they would not let staff accept tips.
  
  All being said, the barn is an amazing venue and I would book again!

  Our wedding day at thebarn1906 was truly one of the BEST days of our lives. Thanks to Kim and her team alongside our amazing vendors, our day went off without a hitch. The grounds were pristine, the set up was beautiful, and staff were all so friendly and approachable. We had our 7 month old there with us on our day and couldn’t tell you how appreciative we were of how flexible and understanding everyone was for our little family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for EVERYTHING!!

  July Wedding

  My husband I and recently had our wedding at the Barn 1906 and will forever be grateful to this venue and team for helping to create the wedding we envisioned! Since seeing it for the first time, we were blown away by how beautiful the grounds were with countless outdoor spots, rustic barns and a picture perfect outdoor arbor. It only got better when the barn doors were opened to see a stunning century barn so well kept with endless opportunities. The inclusions of an elevated DJ space, a huge bar, beautiful harvest tables, windows overlooking farm fields, and strung lights made the indoor space so inviting! Having access to the bridal suite on site also made it so easy for getting ready and was wonderfully situated on the property to watch from the windows as your guests arrived. Since our wedding, we have had countless guests express to us how impressed with the venue they were, how smooth flowing the ceremony and reception were, and how much they enjoyed their time celebrating with us. This could not have happened if it wasn't for the dedication and attention to detail the Barn 1906 provides to each of their weddings. Thank you for everything!

  Beautiful venue with a amazing staff!

  We had the BEST experience with Kim and her team at The Barn 1906! The venue is beautiful and Kim and her team are so nice, so easy going and so efficient! They made our day go so smoothly and truly something we will never forget! We can’t say enough great things! Thanks so much for an unforgettable and amazing experience!! 😊

  Amazing Venue

  My husband and I got married on July 29th. The Barn 1906 was the only venue we looked at and we fell in love at first sight with how stunning the grounds are and ofcourse the beautiful barn. It is family owned and that really shines through with how amazing they are to work with, I truly can’t thank Kimberly, her daughters and all the staff enough for everything they did. They took all my visions and made them come to life, it truly was perfect.
  I had a very big issue with one of my vendors the day of, and before I even knew, Kimberly worked her magic and fixed the problem. She was a life saver for our event.
  And lastly, I’m pretty sure every single one of my guests complimented the venue, it was a huge crowd pleaser.
  If you’re considering The Barn 1906, I highly recommend it! You will not be disappointed!

  Perfect wedding venue

  the barn 1906 was our dream wedding venue! We are so thankful for the help of Kimberly and the Van Luyk family leading up to our day, their attention to detail throughout and of course the beautifully maintained grounds. We didn't have to worry about a thing on our day with the team at the barn 1906 doing the coordination for us. Highly recommend.

  We had the perfect day. Kim, Laura, Monica and their team absolutely delivered. The venue was gorgeous and every detail was exactly what I visioned. They are so kind and are truly there to make your day perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better venue to have my wedding.
