Overall great experience, but some issues

Overall, we were super happy with Deerhurst Resort and choosing to do our wedding weekend there.

We worked with Stephanie and she was absolutely great to work with, she definitely went above and beyond for us and we appreciate that so much. She's very good at responding to e-mails, and I really appreciate that they let you know when they're unavailable and busy with weddings. They are very flexible and open to new ideas & cultures and even offered us a different space for our ceremony because there was not enough space in our original space selection!

We do have a few negative points to highlight just so that people are aware and to hopefully...

They are very flexible and open to new ideas & cultures and even offered us a different space for our ceremony because there was not enough space in our original space selection!

We do have a few negative points to highlight just so that people are aware and to hopefully improve the quality of service at Deerhurst.

1) One issue we had during our wedding was that we decided based on our guests that the best option for our bar service would be the "a la carte option (based on consumption)". Staff members we taking full drinks placed on tables and tossing them, one of our guests got upset with them and the staff member responded "don't worry, you're not paying for it". Unfortunately, this is really discouraging and unprofessional to hear.

2) We were told by Stephanie that our shuttle service for photos would be with us the whole time. There was a HUGE miscommunication and the shuttle service would leave and tell us we had to call for it to come back - this lost time, and sometimes we couldn't even get through to them by phone and I (the bride in heels) had to walk back to resort to ensure I was on time for our ceremony.

3) My bridal bouquet was lost and nobody had any idea where it went. This was discouraging as I thought that all the florals would've been stored in the reception room until clean up the next morning. I had wanted to preserve it, so I recommend really discussing these items with Stephanie so that you don't experience the same thing as me.

4) Originally, our wedding planner was under the assumption that Stephanie would be helping her during the day but apparently she was in meetings all day and did not discuss this with our planner.

5) Our ceremony was delayed because guests from the resort were late getting to the ceremony space. I believe this is because there were not enough shuttles available. We did warn the staff there that many people would be showing up "last minute" (e.g., 10 minutes before start time) and kind of expected there to be more than 2 shuttles available for our large (135 people) guest count.

I do not write these items in vain, overall we're very happy with choosing to do our wedding at Deerhurst and working with Stephanie. I just wanted to write these things to ensure that the quality of service the resort provides is better and that nobody else experiences the same things that we did.

We had a fantastic wedding, and weekend at Deerhurst and would recommend doing your wedding there. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful space and day.

Perfect Winter Wedding

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Deerhurst Resort for our winter wedding! Our first inquiry email was answered almost immediately, we were treated incredible when we went to tour the venue and every step of the way we were met with quick, helpful responses. We toured/sent inquires to a number of other venues and none of them made us feel like Deerhurst did. No matter how much they had going on we were always treated like a priority and as our wedding day approached it felt like no ask was too big/complex/impossible. Of course, the venue itself is also gorgeous! We were in the Tom Thomson room for our ceremony and the Peninsula Room for our reception.

Stephanie & Haley helped arrange all our details and I cannot say enough wonderful things about these two! They helped ensure we felt comfortable with how our planning was going every step of the way and worked to ensure all the details would be perfect. As our group started to arrive at the resort the service only got better. We had the absolute most perfect wedding experience with Deerhurst and every staff member we interacted with was incredible. I would recommend Deerhurst and their team to EVERYONE getting married.

Picture-Perfect Venue for a Picture-Perfect Day!

The night before, we had a complimentary bonfire with all of our friends, our rehearsal dinner was absolutely delicious and Haley Mumby (Deerhurst's Wedding Coordinator) was there to respond to our every question as we rehearsed, and to top it all off, as my now-husband and I were preparing for our rehearsal dinner in our complimentary suite, Haley had chocolate-covered strawberries and prosecco delivered right to our room for us to enjoy! As we planned every last detail over almost 2 years, we had 1001 questions and Haley answered every single one. You can tell that Haley is a seasoned professional who cares about the work she does and the couples she works with. Haley was responsive to all of our requests and questions and we absolutely knew she was just as dedicated to giving us the perfect day we'd dreamed of as we were. We cannot say enough good things about Deerhurst, Haley, and it's amazing staff who came together to facilitate the best possible wedding experience. Our guests can't stop talking about the stunning location, how delicious the food was, their comfortable stay in the Pavilion Suites, and how they'd had such an amazing time overall! If you want a picture-perfect day that feels just as relaxed and easy as it is polished and stunning, then Deerhurst is the way to go!

Could Not Have Been More Perfect!

Haley Mumby, our wedding coordinator/event specialist from Deerhurst was the most wonderful, organized, kind, helpful, mind-easing human ever. Aside from Haley being so wonderful, the rest of the Deerhurst staff were also amazing! We felt like we made a bunch of new friends in their staff. They were so accommodating, always checking in on us and asking if we needed anything or if they could help. I felt like a celebrity. Cannot say enough good things.

We had a pizza party and bonfire on the beach on the night before the wedding, the Friday evening. It was amazing and everyone had a blast. The food at the reception on Saturday was SO good, everyone commented on it and said how great it was. We had the chicken and salmon as our two main entree options and a vegetarian risotto as a veg option. Everything was perfect.

The ceremony was right by the lake on Sunset Bay Lawn, again, could not have been a more perfect set-up. Haley and Stephanie were there to help keep us on track and it was delightful to have them. There are so many beautiful spots for photos on the grounds it's hard to choose!

I could go on and on about this weekend, but I'll wrap this up by saying if I could do this all over again, I would do it EXACTLY the same and not change one thing. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, we were treated wonderfully, and I have not one complaint or regret. Thank you SO MUCH to Deerhurst for being so professional yet kind and fun. We will never forget this weekend and we are so excited to come back to the most beautiful resort and celebrate every year! We feel very lucky to have had such an amazing experience. We had the best time!

Trying to plan a wedding during the pandemic was rough, but Haley was understanding and accommodating throughout. Our room was huge and the service was fantastic- on our wedding day I received multiple calls from the front desk making sure that we had everything we needed. Haley helped the day run very smoothly and it was honestly amazing. I cannot tell you how many compliments I received about our dinner- it was cooked to perfection! Thank you Haley and the rest of the Deerhurst team for making our day so special! We will definitely be returning and I know that our guests will be as well!

The Perfect Place for Your Special Day

Honestly, we cannot say enough amazing things about Deerhurst. To preface, my husband and I have made annual trips up to Deerhurst to kick off our golfing season over the last five years. Deerhurst was also where he proposed, which from what he has said, was such a great experience planning and coordinating with the restaurant team. It only made sense to have our wedding in the same sentimental place that we have grown to love - this is a decision that we know we will never regret.

From the initial planning stages, Haley was our saving grace. Haley sent out all the details that we needed to be mindful of for the wedding day, and also answered any of our many queries as they came up within a timely manner. Our communications were always pleasant, and my husband and I were always so grateful we had Haley to turn to every time we signed off an email.

Fast forward to our menu tasting, which we decided to have on Valentine's Day, and we were just blown out of the water. First of all, the service and complimentary champagne and dinner we received just left us feeling so blissful and grateful (it happened two years ago and I sill can't forget the feeling). The actual tasting was difficult, because everything tasted so AMAZING. It was so hard to choose our final decisions for our wedding day. But we did - and our guests have had nothing but positive things to say about the food at our wedding. The three course meal from the soup, to the steak or char, to the tarte was absolutely delicious. I would have had that exact meal every day for a week if I could.

Fast forward to our wedding day, which we postponed twice due to the pandemic, and everything ran so smoothly! Haley ran through our ceremony the night before to ensure that we knew where to go and what to do. Everything after that was seamless. I was truly blown away by the service on all ends. From the hotel reception desk, to the proshop booking team, to our shuttle bus driver, and to our servers at the reception, every interaction we had with a Deerhurst staff member was so pleasant, so warm, and so accommodating. I honestly cannot say how impressed and grateful I am to all the servers at our wedding reception. We can honestly say our wedding day would not be the memorable and joyous day it was without them.

Absolutely Amazing

We were married December 2020, yay pandemic weddings. From the beginning of the pandemic all the way through to our wedding day (and beyond), the wedding coordinator Haley was so attentive, transparent, and helpful. We can honestly say our wedding would not have been a success without her and the rest of the Deerhurst staff. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind and generous. We felt completely safe and welcomed throughout our stay, as did our guests which was so important to us. We had to make a number of adjustments due to the pandemic, and Haley was with us every step of the way. She went above and beyond for us. We feel so lucky and we are so happy we chose Deerhurst Resort to host our wedding.

Our Muskoka renewal

We also needed the perfect place to renew our vows on our 10th anniversary and we couldn't be happier with the choice we made. In the end we had simple beach ceremony that was both classy and laid back, followed by an evening dinner for our group of 20 on the rotunda porch. And the quality of the food was exceptional -- it certainly wasn't "wedding food". As a venue Deerhurst turned out to be the perfect mix of scenic beauty and experiential destination. If we weren't on the beach we were in a kayak, standup paddle board, on the golf course or enjoying a morning group hike up to the top of the lookout (where we happened upon a family of deer and later a large family of 30 wearing matching Friends t-shirts). If you're looking for a destination locale I'd highly recommend Deerhurst. We drove away with hearts full of love and heads full of memories.

Dream wedding come true

FROM THE MOMENT I REACHED OUT TO DEERHURST TO INQUIRE ABOUT HAVING OUR WEDDING THERE UNTIL THE MOMENT WE CHECKED OUT WE WERE NOTHING BUT HAPPY. THE WEDDING COORDINATOR, HALEY MUMBY IS AMAZING. SHE WILL HELP MAKE YOU DAY AS SPECIAL AS YOU IMAGINED AND ALSO HELP EASE ANY OF YOUR WORRIES. THE RESORT HAS THE BEST SETTINGS FOR ROMANCE AND PICTURES THE STAFF WERE ACCOMMODATING TO ALL OUR NEEDS. COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A MORE PERFECT EXPERIENCE, ESPECIALLY DURING OUR CURRENT "COVID" CIRCUMSTANCES. I 110% RECOMMEND HAVING YOUR WEDDING AT THE DEERHURST RESORT MUSKOKA!

A Dream Come True

Deerhurst was a fabulous location for our wedding. Haley Mumby is beyond wonderful! She catered to our every want and need and then some! Our unforseen last minute requests were handled with a smile and she made sure everything perfect and everyone was happy. Best choice ever!
