As soon as we visited the grounds we knew it was our ideal spot. Cottages available for family to make a weekend out of the wedding! The ceremony over the water was just a perfect backdrop.

The menu selections were wonderful, and we opted for a more low key vibe and went with the BBQ family style dinner! It was delicious! We were more than happy with the food, as were our guests! They allowed us to select the liquor we wanted served at the bar, and allowed us the option of a host “open” bar for the entire day- even allowed us a “satellite” bar set up through dinner which meant people were not stuck drinking only wine. This was a suggestion I had made to the coordinator and it was put place and well executed We are happy to report that it went over very well with our guests!

The serving staff were wonderful, friendly and had personality! They were great!

The resort allowed us to bring in our own decor, as they do not offer much in that aspect. We built our own oak arbor to use incase the ceremony had to be moved inside. Luckily, didn’t rain, so it served as a backdrop to the signing table. We built our own oak lanterns which have warmth and a soft glow on the dining tables, as well as decor for the ceremony aisles. We made our own artificial flower arrangements and placed them on the ceremony pergola and around the venue as we desired. We weren’t given a list of restrictions which was wonderful! It allowed us to make the space our own for the day.

I wouldn’t hesitate to book this venue- providing you are capable of being your own wedding coordinator. Read that again- you NEED to be your own coordinator. There was a lot of information that wasn’t provided to us until right before the wedding, some things the day of. Luckily, we are pretty good with the flow type of people. I suggest requesting your details meeting 3 months before your wedding and visit the location. Get a feel for how traffic will move around the venue.

All in all any planning issues that we faced, or any communication issues leading up to the wedding were only mine and my husbands to deal with. All of the guests loved the venue, and the food. Which is key to a successful wedding.

I will note, that there really should be someone from the staff providing direction to the ceremony space. Many of my guests didn’t know where to go, and I saw about 80% of my guests before I walked down the aisle. So, if you book here… make sure you create extra signage with arrows so your guests know where they are supposed to be. Having one welcome sign wasn’t enough. Also, note that your guests must walk outside around the venue to get to the back ceremony space on the water - had we known they wouldn’t be walking through the building we would have designed our decor differently. These are minor items in the grand scheme of things, but when you spend a year planning, it is frustrating the day of.

Again, we loved our wedding so much! It was absolutely gorgeous and there were so many great options for pictures. I suggest giving yourself at least 1.5 hours for pictures as we ran a bit late and I had 3 texts from the wedding coordinator telling me I was late… yes, it’s hard to use the washroom in a wedding dress- so give yourself a bit of a cushion for time.

I hope that any difficulties we faced will be treated as a learning experience for the new wedding coordinator. I would imagine jumping into this role at such a venue would be difficult, but the devil is in the details- especially when you’re a bride. A little more communication and understanding will go a long way. Again, the venue is fantastic and despite any issues leading up to the event, our day was perfection!

Elmhirst resort blew us away with the wedding they put on for us. Everything we asked for was accommodated with so much kindness and understanding. We were told it was our day and they’re here to make it what we want. Mother Nature stepped in to throw a wrench with some rain but the staff were there to wipe down chairs and make sure alternate options s were ready and available.
Everyone at the resort were so friendly and inviting. I felt like I had been coming there for years and knew everyone as friends. Even though they weren’t given notice they accommodated some last minute dietary changes and were on the ball making sure people were getting the right meals. There was no pressure to be out right on time, just kind gently nudges that it was time to close up shop. So much understanding was given at checkout time and when moving to a new cottage, including a member of the cleaning crew returning some items we left behind to the new cottage. We were given time to get our finances together and pay our final tab. Taylor was absolutely unreal and deserves an award for her professionalism, kindness and attention to detail. I wish all brides got to experience the type of wedding vibes that the team at Elmhirst provided to my husband and me.

We were married October 10th in Keene and had our reception at Elmhirst's. It was a late change in our original plans due to Covid, but it was an absolutely perfect day thanks to Steve and his team! Steve met with us a few times and was available to help us via email and phone as the situation changed on a regular basis. He was calm and reassuring and very accommodating. And he loves the element of surprise, so we were thrilled when he suggested fireworks to cap off our evening! A huge hit with our guests!

We, along with our immediate families also rented cottages for our wedding weekend and everything was wonderful. The cottages have all of the amenities that you could possibly need and the private waterfront location was wonderful! We could really relax and enjoy the festivities.

As a bonus, Elmhirst's is a beautiful location for photos. The staff is wonderful and made us feel very special throughout our wedding weekend. We would absolutely recommend this as a location for your wedding or any special occasion!

We had our wedding there on June 22nd, 2019 and we cannot say enough positive things about how amazing the venue, food and staff were. From our initial site visit with Steve, to booking our guest’s accommodations with Joyce, and Alex providing excellent day of coordination, wedding planning with Elmhirst’s Resort was seamless for us as they tried (and succeeded) to make the wedding of our dreams come to life.

Our guests will not stop talking about how incredible the food was – with several folks saying it was the BEST wedding meal they have ever had – and how efficient and friendly the service was from bartenders and waiters throughout the night. After an amazing weekend at Elmhirst’s Resort, many guests told us they intend to come back to stay again, and we booked a cabin for our 1 year anniversary on the spot.

We also managed to squeeze in some amazing treatments at the Spa with extremely friendly attendants who were happy to take two guys through their first manicures! The sightseeing seaplane flight is also an absolute must do activity!

Overall, as two men getting married, we were blown away with how accepting and enthusiastic the staff were about hosting a LGBT wedding. Elmhirst made us feel like part of the family and we can’t imagine any other place to have had our wedding. Highly recommend if you are looking for an outdoor venue, cottage getaway, or having the best wedding food of your life!

This beautiful venue was absolutely perfect. The coordinator Taylor helped with part of the planning and coordination of the day. The servers and overall staff was helpful and friendly. The AC in the dining room was not working effectively however other than that we had no issues. The food was excellent and the quality was top notch. Some of the cottage related policies are not as flexible and slightly complicated so if your guests are staying on the venue, plan it in advance. Happy with our overall experience, food and supportive staff. Most of the instructions provided in advance were followed and we were happy that we chose this beautiful venue for our wedding day.

We had our wedding at Elmhirst's Resort in May and everything went just as we had hoped. From the time we booked the wedding package, the events staff kept in touch regularly and and followed up with us whenever the next phase of the planning was due. We chose the The Whole Shebang wedding package which includes a plated meal for the reception dinner. Each dish was just wonderful and the guests remarked on the beautiful presentation. Our family and friends found the staff to be friendly, welcoming and very helpful from the moment they arrived the night before. We would recommend Elmhirst Resort to anyone looking for a wedding package that covers all your needs from a beautiful grounds and outdoor wedding by the lake to seamless wedding organization, very professional staff and stellar catering.
