Most Amazing Venue!

From the history, to the staff, to the venue itself - everything was top notch. My husband and I cannot say enough good things about the Gladstone.

When we were considering venue options, this one stood out to us the most as it was somehow modern and vintage at the same time. The interior will blow you away. The only thing better than the decor is the staff - they are willing to go above and beyond to ensure your day is absolutely perfect.

Having stayed there the weekend of the wedding, we can confirm that the hotel is great for a stay as well as events. Everyone was professional and attentive, our guests had a great time and the food was PERFECTION! Our guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing everything tasted.

If you're unsure if this is the venue for you then this is your sign! As a bonus, it's a place you can come back to every year for your anniversary! My husband and I will actually be returning in a month to celebrate our first anniversary (of many) with the Gladstone!

The perfect small ceremony

My husband and I had a small legal ceremony at the Gladstone House in the Robinson Room, inviting about 25 guests who couldn’t join us for our larger wedding in Las Vegas the following week.

From the very beginning, Eduarda was incredible. She guided us through the entire process, from the venue tour to setting up the menu, consumption bar, seating arrangements, event set-up and decor. I honestly couldn’t have done it all without her expertise.

Having the ceremony and dinner in the same room created a wonderfully intimate atmosphere that was perfect for our vision. The setting also provided stunning opportunities for couple photos, which we absolutely loved.

Typically, wedding food doesn’t have high expectations, but Gladstone House truly exceeded them. Every guest raved about their meals, and many mentioned they’d be back to dine there again. The service was equally impressive, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring everything went smoothly.

We also got ready at the hotel and found them very accommodating with early check-in and providing high-top tables and stools for hair and makeup. The rooms were stunning, and I must say, it was one of the coziest beds I've ever slept in!

I can’t recommend the Gladstone Hotel enough. They made our experience seamless and memorable from start to finish!

Beautiful unique boutique hotel

We had our wedding in June 2023 at the Gladstone House Hotel, with 80 guests. We also stayed there for 2 nights.
The hotel itself is beautiful. The decor is very unique and artistic. Every floor has its own theme and art display. Rooms are newly renovated and very bright with high ceilings, but they are a bit small in size.
Our event coordinator, Giannina, was amazing. She was responsive with emails and calls, attentive to our needs, and flexible to accommodate our ideas. Our wedding day went perfectly because she planned everything with us.
All the staff from the front desk to the bar to the kitchen were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel like at home in the short 2 days.
The food at the Gladstone House Hotel was wonderful. We opted for family style. The portion might have been a bit small, but the quality was topnotch!
Our only minor complaint was that the tables were cleared too quickly. We didn't get to have the desserts which we picked for our reception. A large portion of the late-night snack was also taken away before we noticed.
Overall, we had a great experience at Gladstone House. We would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Best day of our lives!

We originally had our wedding scheduled in 2020 but had to postpone due to COVID. During that time, we were notified that Gladstone House would undergo a full renovation and will be transitioning to new ownership. To say we were nervous and concerned would be an understatement, but in the end we could not have asked for a more amazing turn of events.
Don't get me wrong - we loved the original Gladstone and the laid back charm it had (that's why we booked the venue), but what they have done with the renovations is nothing short of spectacular. They kept many of the key historic features of the building, but elevated the space to a whole new level! It is colourful, unique, and unlike any other venue in the city. We were completely blown away at our first walkthrough of the venue!

The events contacts we worked with (Alana & Livleen) kept us informed throughout the entire process and when it was finally time to start planning, we met with Giannina who helped us put together all the details of our celebration. There wasn't a single detail missed from our day!

We had already done a tasting (before COVID hit), but had to schedule another one for the new menu and the new Chef. Just like the pleasant surprise of walking into a whole new beautiful venue, we were also blown away by the food. It was a far cry from the typical banquet menu and we honestly felt like we were dining at an upscale restaurant. Our guests could not stop raving about the food at the wedding!

The banquet staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating that evening! We couldn't believe how quickly they flipped the Ballroom from our ceremony to dinner - it was like magic!

My husband and I could not have asked for a more incredible venue to host this celebration, and we're so happy that we were lucky enough to have our original plans turn into something even more spectacular!

Very Disappointed Leaving Bride upset and groom underwhelmed

Food Tasting was amazing. Right from initial booking we emphasized the meal was most important to us. When we did the food tasting we were blown away, The wine chosen was amazing, all courses exceeded epectations. But that is where it pretty much ended.

Canapés during cocktail hour were good and guests really enjoyed them. When we got back to cafe from having photos taken we were excited and looking forward to the meal based on this.

Red Wine selected and in BEO was not served. When I politely asked about it was told I was wrong and it was indeed served according to the operations team. I promised them it was not as the bottles were not even remotely similar looking let alone tasted nothing like what we were promised. Further investigation by GH staff revealed I was right. Wine served was not nice at all, I was hard pressed to drink 1/2 glass with meal.

Soup was supposed to be Corn Chowder, Our guests are still debating what it actually was. Tasted nothing like food tasting and still not sure if it was Corn Chowder.

Salad - Crispy Beet Salad with Goat Cheese, again nothing like food tasting. Presentation aside this looked more like a lump of Goat cheese with a little Garnish. I think I had 1 crispy beet on the plate. Would have preferred some crackers to spread the cheese on as it was not much of a salad.

Beef Short Rib. As the Bride and Groom the expectation would have been at least ours was served hot being the first served. It was warm at best. Both of ours was slightly dried out. and the sauce/gravy was almost non existent on many guests plates.

Lemon Tart Desert - During tasting this was served with a meringue and was delicious. At reception it was the tart with a few raspberries on top. The raspberries just added to the tartness of the dish and most guests just left it. Close friends we spoke to did mention that it needed something to cut through the tartness.

As the bride and groom nether of us finished a single course and could not wait till the late night snacks were served as we had barely eaten all day. Not what we had hoped for expected since we had stated from meeting 1 that the Food was most important to us. I have been to weddings in the Royal Canadian Legion where the women's auxiliary have catered the event to more people where the food was nicer than this.

We were a small wedding (60 guests) and all in cost us almost 500.00 per guest(venue, food, beverage, taxes, tips). We stopped asking guests if they enjoyed the food as we made the social rounds after dinner as it was getting embarrassing where casual friends were polite and said it was nice but family and close friends stated the same feelings as us. If the appearance of the venue is what is most important to you then it might be worth it to you. If Food is even remotely important then suggest you look elsewhere.

Beautiful and lovely venue, service was difficult

We had a really nice reception on May 10 but the planning process leading up was very difficult for us. Our previous venue coordinator was uncommunicative, unresponsive, and difficult to get a hold of.
I would wait weeks to hear an answer back. Weeks prior to our wedding, we were introduced to Nina, the new venue coordinator. She was so helpful and sweet throughout the last few weeks of our planning, I felt very heard and comfortable with her.
We received great reviews on the food and our guests were impressed by the character of the hotel but we had a difficult planning process due to the lack of communication by the venue coordinator. A few of my guests also had a difficult time booking their rooms because the front staff they spoke to were "unaware" of an incoming wedding. Our discount link also did not work.
Overall, we enjoyed our reception but disappointed in the lack of responsiveness from the venue manager.

Great event!

The venue is stunning! We had our welcome party at the venue the Thursday before our wedding. The team we worked with for this event were extremely quick to respond and amazing.

For our wedding, we had about 100 people. The food was great, venue was accommodating and everyone we worked with was very nice. Communication leading up to the wedding could have been a bit better but overall they were all very kind and we had a beautiful wedding.

Beautiful Winter Wedding!

We had our wedding at the Gladstone Hotel on Saturday February 8th, 2020. It was honestly better than we could have expected! The food was excellent – we had many compliments on it from guests. Initially we had gone with their Winter menu, which was offered to us at the time, and we had chosen the bone-in rib steak and hoisin butter salmon. But to be honest, we were not happy with those selections and asked for alternatives from their non-winter menu. You should know that there was an extra charge to do so, but in our opinion, it was well worth it. We chose the slow-braised short rib and the black cod, both of which were delicious. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire day (checking in on us while getting ready in the bridal dressing suite) and night (checking in with us throughout cocktail hour and dinner) to make sure that everything went smoothly. We paid the extra $100 to have a Gladstone staff member help set up for the ceremony and the reception and everything was beautiful! We loved how everything looked, it was well worth it! We also chose to add uplighting which added a great effect. Having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at the same venue was also very convenient for guests. The signature welcome cocktails that were offered to guests when they arrived (we chose “the Salon”, which had Lot 40 whisky, maple syrup, grapefruit and egg white) were a huge hit. Following the ceremony, the cocktail hour was in a gallery that was already decorated with (rotating) art displays, so we didn’t even need to add anything to decorate that room, it looked great on its own! We also had a few family members and friends staying in the hotel and they all commented on how great the staff were in helping them settle in and feel comfortable. They were quick to assist my parents in using the elevator as my father has mobility issues. We also stayed two nights in the hotel – the night of our wedding and the night after. We really enjoyed our stay in the Tower Suite and were so happy to just relax the day after the wedding. We were interested in going to the drag brunch the next morning at the hotel, but it books up fast so make sure to make your reservations in advance. Finally, we would also really like to thank Sarah McGree, she was a huge help in organizing the event for us. She was in regular contact with us throughout the entire process and was very helpful. She answered all of our questions very promptly and offered us planning advice. We were so glad that we had the opportunity to work with her in planning our special day.

Fantastic Venue and a Magical Day

My husband and I got married at the Gladstone on August 24, 2019. The Gladstone has everything that you need in a more rustic, cool venue. The Gladstone team was so professional and amazing (Sarah, thank you SO much for all your help. You are a dream to work with, and thank you for putting up with all my questions!). The food was amazing, the night-of staff was perfect (we receive SO many compliments), Daniel was great (even when we were running a little behind on schedule). We even had one staff member say that they have worked many weddings in their life, and they have never felt as much happiness and love in one room before as our wedding.

Our day was absolutely magical, having the suite upstairs was perfect, and I can't rave enough about how good everything was. The day went by so quickly, I wish we could do it all over again!

The Gladstone also accommodated us for our rehearsal dinner and the morning Drag brunch (which is a MUST SEE).

Again, thank you for a perfect day. And to all others thinking about hosting their wedding at the Gladstone, you won't regret it!
