Perfect Venue

The Drake was the perfect venue for what we were looking for - which was a venue for 130 people that felt intimate, could provide just enough of the traditional fixtures (ceremony, speeches, etc.) but was also much more of a party. The 'standing buffet' style meant that we could talk to everyone, and the party felt very informal - and the expertise the staff brought to the format meant we could relax.

Plus - the venue is incredibly stylish, and exactly what we were looking for.

Thank you to The Drake Hotel ***especially Jessica*** for helping to make our wedding dreams come true!! It is difficult to put into words but I shall try. After going to so many weddings, we felt that many of them started to blend in together and they had a similar format. We wanted to prioritize music, dancing, great good, and mingling/socializing in a fun but unique venue. The Drake Hotel could not have been more perfect for us. Jessica was incredible to work with. She is responsive, really understands what her clients are looking for, obviously a great planner, and really goes above and beyond to bring everything to life. There was not one detail missed. The food was incredible and plentiful, and Jessica's day of coordination kept everything on schedule. We stayed on the main floor for dinner and some initial dancing, and then decided to go downstairs to the Underground for late dancing and snacks. We had an incredible live band (Soular) so how could we not use the concert stage down there! We had 150 guests and it wasn't too crowded or too empty feeling. Anyways I digress.... although of course the wedding would have been amazing because I married my amazing husband, it was that much better because it literally brought everything we wanted in a wedding to life. THANK YOU SO MUCH to Jessica and everyone at The Drake for giving us the best wedding, and our guests an amazing night. Everyone is still raving about it and so many people said it was one of the best parties!! Not that our intention was to be the best, but again, just being different helps to freshen things up. If you are looking for a downtown Toronto wedding venue that is not as traditional, with all the bells and whistles, pick the Drake!

We had an amazing experience at The Drake from planning to day of. I can't stop bragging about how wonderful our experience was. So many of our guests have commented that we had "The coolest wedding they've ever been to" also. Not one thing went wrong on the big day, and I have nothing but great things to say about Ashley, her team and The Drake Hotel.
Thanks!

Ever since I stepped into this venue, I knew I had to have my wedding reception there. It is an old hotel (circa 1890) that was recently renovated and is now the hottest place to be in Toronto. Everyone I told that I was having my reception there was excited for me. It's got so much character, there's real art installations on the wall, the service was IMPECCABLE... my grandmother, who came over from Northern Ireland over fifty years ago, said the salmon we had at our reception was the best she's had this side of the Atlantic. Everyone had a wonderful time. The food was terrific - especially the wedding cupcakes. They carried them out on a wooden plank and they were so big with heaps of buttercream icing and a shortbread cookie on top with a personalized motif - an ivy leaf, because that was our new name. I had a small wedding - only 60 guests, and we had our party in the room called the underground. It was dark and intimate, like a romantic restaurant, and my husband and I spent a lot of time (because we didn't have appetites) upstairs, getting amazing photos around the building. The architecture, light fixtures, art installations - it's all so cool, and so young. AND, we didn't break the bank.
