About

Located in Calgary, Alberta, The Inn on Officers’ Garden is a hotel and wedding venue. The building was initially the Officers’ Mess at the Currie Barracks before being transformed into its current state. The structure combines architectural details of the past with contemporary considerations. The result is a venue that blends historic with modern, making it a memorable place to say “I do.”

The Inn on Officers’ Garden offers versatile event spaces for a couple’s celebrations. These flexible options can accommodate small gatherings of 10 people to large galas of over 100. The Event Hall can accommodate up to 125 guests and features romantic details such as soft lighting and the original fireplace. Couples can also host their celebrations in the Officers Pub, which has a tree in the centre, making it even more unforgettable. Flanders Fine Foods is our Grab & Go market at The Inn that can be made into a buffet line without taking any space up in the Event Hall. Small weddings or related events can also be held in the Conservatory & Patio, which is a light and welcoming space for loved ones to come together. This is only one of a number more intimate settings for a couple and their nearest and dearest to mark the milestone moment. We can accommodate up to 300 guests in multiple spaces if a cocktail reception is what you desire.

Google review

I'm yet to write a comprehensive review about this venue, but for other couples I absolutely recommend anyone to avoid this place for weddings. The restaurant is fine but weddings? They are years light away from being prepared to host weddings. Check for the reviews for weddings in google review and check how consistent they are in being inconsistent. Absolutely not worth it going through so much problems on our big day.
In my wedding we were clear with thw amount of food we wanted, they told us to order less amd we did. Result: not enough food for our guests. Each and every person in this place rejected any accountability. They offered us a stay in the hotel to pay for our trouble... no thanks. My wedding was done in the premise, they didn't bother to cut the grass! They didn't bothered to provide pressed linen. All tables linen were all wrinkled. No attention to details, no accountability. One couple on reviews informed they brought the bill to settle when couple was drunk and was super late, yes they do that! I thought it was just us but seems like that is their practice.
Anyways, I will make a better review on Google review with all details and names of who "helped" us but for now I just recommend to be away from this place for weddings.

Day Of went great

We were married at the Inn in Fall 2023 and had an overall mixed experience. There were many positives: the food, wait staff, accommodation, grounds and buildings themselves were all excellent. It’s a historic site which drew us there, and we had nothing but compliments from the guests for the wedding day itself. Where we ran into many issues was in the months leading up to the wedding. The biggest problem we had was a) that all the original management staff left the Inn in early 2023 b) that we had booked the venue due to the living room in the basement; it was renovated without our knowing six months before our event. We only found out when we happened to be there, which was a consistent trend. Communication were lacking throughout the planning and we had to regularly dig, follow up, and meet in person to get an understanding of what was changing. We also felt that a number of promises were not honured or we were then asked to pay additional money which was not part of the original agreement (e.g., additional charge for basement space, being told ALL breakfasts were included for guests staying at the Inn only for it to change the day of to only include those with the most expensive rooms [though this was comped after we complained for one night only], and additional charges for the tasting menu). An unclear contract did not help with this as it lacked specifics. We will add that communication did gradually get better over time, but overall the lack of communications made the experience unpleasant, stressful and full of tears.

We did ultimately have a lovely wedding, but there was a great deal of stress in addition to the normal wedding stressors in the months leading up to our date. We would not not recommend the Inn, but would highly suggest that expectations, contracts and specifics should all be CLEARLY established before choosing this venue. You may need to make a point of visiting and reaching out yourselves or risk being surprised the day of.

Gorgeous outdoor wedding in August

We had our wedding here in August. We were super happy with the venue. They took care of the set up, take down, sound, catering and cake. The wait staff were a bit slow with bringing out the food and there were some unexpected fees ($5 per chair, $75 coffee service, PA system). Overall, we’re thrilled with how it went and the venue looked beautiful.
