DRAGON’S LODGE ON GABRIOLA ISLAND

Dramatically perched on a rock face bluff, Dragon's Lodge on Gabriola Island offers an unparalleled experience for a destination wedding. Located only a 20 min ferry ride from the city of Nanaimo on the eastern side of Vancouver Island and only a ferry ride or seaplane from Vancouver, this exquisite property boasts 1,600 feet of stunning oceanfront, providing breathtaking views of the Salish Sea and the coastal mountains. Guests can immerse themselves in nature with a variety of activities, from exploring the expansive sandy beaches and old-growth forests to enjoying the serene ocean views from the lodge’s 1,000 square foot deck. The lodge itself accommodates up to 25 guests in beautifully appointed rooms, complemented by 8 rustic cedar cabins for the more adventurous. With its luxurious amenities, historical charm, and spectacular setting, Dragon's Lodge ensures a memorable and unique experience for any event.

Facilities and Capacity

This 6,500-square-foot venue is able to accommodate weddings of varying sizes, from intimate affairs to larger groups of up to 80 people. The facilities found at Dragon's Lodge include indoor and uncovered outdoor event spaces that can be decorated in any fashion couples would like. To-be-weds may declare their love and their vows in front of their guests outside, surrounded by picturesque ocean views and plenty of fresh air. The lodge itself offers the entry and great room for indoor events, an elegant event space with neutral decor to complement all kinds of wedding styles. This area also features two large dining tables that work perfectly as head tables where the wedding party can sit during the reception. Guests may exit through the great room’s garden doors to visit the expansive deck. This space allows them to enjoy the panoramic views, watch for wildlife sightings, or to simply take a break from the excitement of the festivities.

Dragon’s Lodge boasts a helpful team of professionals who are dedicated to helping each couple bring their dream wedding to life. They are able to assist with a variety of wedding-related events, including engagement parties, showers, rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, and receptions. To ensure a celebration that accurately reflects your one-of-a-kind love, style, and tastes, the staff can provide you with a list of recommended vendors.

Accommodation

This lodge is happy to offer couples and their loved ones 11 guests rooms, with views of the ocean and forest, sleeping up to 30 people. The lodge also includes a fully equipped, spacious kitchen, featuring 2 refrigerators, two freezers, two stoves, a dishwasher and settings for 50. The large deck off the kitchen has two bbq's and outdoor patio chairs and tables. For a bit of extra privacy, guests can head to the 8 cedar cabins, each featuring two canvas camp cots and mosquito netting.
