16 Dec, 2017The story of our wedding
A sad start to this journey, is the passing of my (now) husband's loving wife 4 years ago. She was a mother of their two adult children, and a wonderful wife for almost 25 years. Bruce came into my life after an understandably hard time after losing her suddenly.
Bruce was the "marrying" type. He wanted to be married, because he loved being married. He enjoyed caring and loving for someone. I wondered, I marvelled at his bravery and ability to love after loss. Perhaps that next person could be me?
We developed a friendship over hiking and email. Shortly after we met, I went to England for some hiking of my own for 3 weeks. During this time away, we emailed, developing a relationship over the short while away. We became more curious, more intimate, and upon my return, became a couple.
The partnership blossomed into a love all our own. Not replacing, just different. We created our own new memories, as well as embracing those from our lives and all that we bring into our 50 something years.

She came over to meet us several times, and over email. And who captured perfectly, the day we wished to share, the memories we wished to embrace, and the way forward we want to go...
Our wedding was full of family and friends. Family of Bruce's were so supportive towards us. They opened their hearts for us, and were certainly happy for Bruce. We are told our love is palpable, and inspiring. Even Brave, I am told. Yes, certainly, it wasn't easy at times, for anyone, but we loved so much, and wanted to share our day!
December 16, 2017 we married in Whistler, BC overlooking the mountains we so loved to climb. Our hearts full. The ceremony was inclusive of all, not just the "couple" but all those present. 48 people shared our vows, shouting "we will" when asked if they would love and support us. A resounding yes! There were many tears of joy, sadness but almost all with love in our hearts for what was and is now.
We will, I do, and we shall.
Life has a weird and wonderful way about it. No question. Just a case of what you choose to do with it.
One life, two loves. And we couldn't be happier.
