11 Jul, 2020The story of our wedding
The day started with myself and my bridesmaids at my parents’ home to get ready. Ramzie and Olga did an exquisite job on our hair and makeup, adhering diligently to Covid-friendly practices! We turned my parents' kitchen into a studio. Once we were all glammed up and dressed, we had photos taken by Michelle Chartrand in my parents' beautiful garden, and our Aussie-Corgi Charlie wore his little bow tie bandana and was his photogenic self! At Clay's dad and step-mums home, he and the guys were getting ready for the big day and were documented by Michelle’s colleague partner Cat.
We elected to do First Look photos, which we did on the stunning grounds of Redwoods Golf Course. As luck would have it, it rained, but I had prepared for it. Everyone had a pure white umbrella I ordered off of Amazon Prime a week earlier! Private romantic first look photos were succeeded by fun and elegant wedding party photos while guests made their way to the marquee. We were sure to include poses of all 13 of us in classic blue medical masks while cheersing with coronas! It just had to be done.

Everyone who was seated together at the reception sat in the same row together during the ceremony. The marquee was elegantly decorated by Redwoods' associate Tracy from Cinderella Slip-Ons, and featured several chandeliers over the ceremony and reception. The team got creative, and served appetizers (and dessert) individually to accommodate Covid protocols. We had prepared our own wedding favours - custom-labelled hand sanitizers, individually-wrapped chocolates, and individual pens for signing the guestbook.
Afterwards, Redwoods served Prime Rib, Blueberry Chicken, Salmon and Buddha bowls as pre-selected plated entrees and several delicious accompaniments, in lieu of the original plan for a buffet. To keep our guests safe, staff wore masks, and delivered food and drinks to an unseated spot at each table so as not to be reaching over and around guests.
Our cake by Tasha of Kick-Ass Cakes, also an associate of the Redwoods wedding team, was three-tier, each a different flavour - strawberry lemonade, mango and mocha chocolate. We also ordered Triple Bypass mini-brownies - a heavenly portion of chocolate brownie with caramel and buttercream frosting. The Redwoods team really knows how to choose their vendors!
Following speeches and our First Dance, Mother-Son and Father-Daughter dances, the evening brought us into the soiree with music DJ’d by Craig from Dance Party, as the sun set across the golf course landscape. The entire day had been just perfect.
