The story of our wedding
Our wedding day was perfect - a little chaotic - but, we wouldn't have wanted it any other way. We got married at my uncle and his partner's property in Port Ryerse called Red Fox Farm that has a big tree and greenspace (where we had the ceremony and photos) and a barn (where we had our reception).
We're both big readers so we wanted our wedding theme to be bookish. We had old books on the tables, our favours for the guests were books we picked out for them and our stationary all had photos of books.
For my something old, new, borrowed, and blue in order I used: my great-grandmas handkerchief, my dress, my mom's wedding earrings and earrings "I" gave my grandma as a gift when I was a baby, and a ring of my birthstone (blue topaz) that my godfather gave me when I turned 16.
We did so many DIYs for our wedding: the arbour, all signage, easels, all stationary (save the date, invitation, program, menu, name cards, etc.), our guest book, a selfie mirror and mirror signs, a bookshelf we built with wrapped books for all of the guests, my grandma made fabric bookmarks, my mom knit all of the bridesmaids shawls, a stole for me, fairy light hearts, laser cut table numbers - just to name a few. So many people kept saying how much they loved all of the little details.
Continue reading »Like I've heard a lot of weddings are like, we didn't follow the schedule exactly (which was hard for my husband and I since we are perfectionists) and we had some mishaps. The mesh for the deep V of my dress split while I was taking getting ready photos which caused problems for the look and feel; my husband forgot his vow book and realized 30 minutes before and a groomsman raced to and from their Airbnb in 20 minutes to grab it (there was some definite speeding since the Airbnb was 20 minutes away each way); the day was windy, drizzly, and a little cold so this caused some problems with keeping tents down for the ceremony, making sure decor didn't fly away, and constantly going back and forth on if we should move inside for photos.
All of our vendors were amazing and we have no complaints. We've gotten a lot of compliments for a variety of them! We can't wait to get our professional photos back that will showcase the day way better! (the photos I've added are just what my bridesmaid in charge of my phone took)
Overall, our day was perfect and we wouldn't change anything! We can't wait for the next chapter of our lives.
