11 Sep, 2022The story of our wedding
We had an Edwardian themed afternoon tea wedding at Cecil Green, a lovely heritage building in Vancouver’s West side. The aesthetic was inspired by favourite stories like Anne of Green Gables and Secret Garden, mixed with the Pacific Northwest which showed up in local seasonal flora. Decor included antiques brought from home such as our tea cart for the signing table, vintage and antique books, brass objects, a family history table with my great grandmother’s dress and old photos in an album from 1900, and the occasional lace table cover. Our ceremony included a handfasting led by Denielle’s father. The cocktail hour was enjoyed with a string quartet and a Rose Elderflower Gimlet feature cocktail. And the reception afternoon tea involved carefully plated three tiered china. The cake was a vegan Earl grey crumb with lavender butter cream made and decorated by my own mother! She made friends with the local florist and brought in spray roses and thistles to go along with our Secret Garden theme for the cake, which we also showed by having a felted robin on top and a felted crow to the side.
