20 Aug, 2022The story of our wedding
Where do I even begin. I guess I'll start with when Dylan popped the question!
It was a Thursday morning. March 11th, 2021. Dylan had an afternoon schedule at work (3pm-11pm) and I had a bit of a mixed schedule. This particular day I was scheduled at 11:30am. I was taking in slow in the morning, enjoying us just chatting and laying in bed. The time came where I said "Ok, I should probably get up and get ready for work now." Dylan looks at me with a big grin on his face and says "You don't work today." I was shook, there was no way. I pull out my phone to double check and yup, there it is. I'm scheduled for 11:30am. Dylan again says "You don't work today, but get ready and dress warm." Ok, now I was starting to freak out a little. It wasn't that cold out, why would I need to dress warm? I don't usually like not knowing what's happening so I asked a lot of questions. "Where are we going? Do I need winter boots? A toque? How warm do I dress? Cute warm? Practical warm? How long will we be gone?" Lol you get the idea. Once we were ready to go we hopped in the car and headed on our way to who knows where. We grabbed Starbucks and drove for about an hour and 20 minutes.
Continue reading »This brought us to Squamish, British Columbia. We went to one of our favourite breakfast spots called Fergie's Cafe. I didn't know we had a bit of a schedule so towards the end of breakfast we quickly wrapped up as Dylan said there was somewhere else we needed to be. We drove down the road for not even 5 minutes and we're at a helicopter company's parking lot. NO. FREAKING. WAY. I asked him "Are we going on a helicopter ride right now?!" he responds with a big smile. Our pilot greets us and we head up into the backcountry. I started to think this must be the day. 45 minutes later and we're still flying.. I thought "ok, maybe we aren't landing. maybe this is just for fun." Shortly after that, we land on the top of Mount Tantalus. We take some time to walk around and enjoy the view. And finally, Dylan gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. Of course I responded with YES, YES, YESSS!!!
Dylan and I have always been the outdoorsy adventure type, so we always imagined our wedding outside. After looking at a few different properties, we ended up lucking out with our friend's, family friends place in Abbotsford, BC.
We celebrated our wedding in their beautiful backyard with all of our closest friends and family. One of my favourite moments we had during the day was in between photos and the ceremony, Dylan and I had a little intimate picnic in the park together. In this moment things felt so calm and at peace. It was so nice taking time to slow down and just enjoy time with each other. Afterwards we went back to the property and had the sweetest ceremony. For the reception we enjoyed some of our favourite foods such as charcuterie, home-made bread, pizza, cupcakes, popcorn and late night candy. We had lawn games out for everyone to play. We finished the night off with lots of dancing! I truly felt like I was dreaming out loud on our wedding day.
