14 Jun, 2024The story of our wedding
Our love story started twelve years ago when we both found ourselves newly single and matched on a dating app. Our sons had played hockey together years earlier, but we didn't really know each other then. Despite facing challenges like financial issues and blending our families, these obstacles brought us closer together rather than driving us apart.
In May 2023, Eric planned a wonderful day for us. We enjoyed breakfast together, watched our favorite Netflix series, and had dinner at my favorite restaurant. While strolling along the Halifax Boardwalk, we stopped at a bench where he got down on one knee and proposed. I was overjoyed! We had talked about marriage since our first year together, and I was so ready to say yes.
My amazing friends rallied together to help me create a beautiful wedding. They assisted with DIY projects like flowers, photo booth frames, a memorial table, a wedding timeline sign, and table centerpieces. One friend even prepared and assembled a grazing table and trays for the wedding party. Another helped me organize and plan the event. I can’t express how invaluable their support was in keeping me on track and within budget.

One of my favorite moments was when my three amazing children and my sweet granddaughter walked me down the aisle to meet my "person," with his sons standing beside him. As I stood at the front of the church after our vows, I looked out at the smiling faces and felt the overwhelming love and support from everyone who has been part of our journey.
Some special touches included our children "warming" our rings with good wishes during the ceremony. Our middle kids served as witnesses, while his eldest gave a heartfelt toast honoring our family. My youngest spoke on behalf of our family to Eric. To top it all off, our kids and their partners danced, celebrated, and helped with the teardown at the end of the night.
Our friends who attended commented that the overall feeling was love and family. It was exactly what we wished for, and more...
