31 Aug, 2019The story of our wedding
Our wedding was amazing. The planning will always be hectic and overwhelming but it is always worth it in the end. I don't think weddings happen exactly as planned - sometimes we fall behind a bit or we forget something but I can say you won't notice it at the end because all the good has outweighed minor changes.
We started our ceremony in the Fraser Room and it happened all so fast. Next thing I knew, I was at the alter. After my dad hugs me and I'm looking at nothing but my husband to be. I barely noticed the tears around me or what colour my arch was. All I concentrated was looking at my husband's eyes and trying not to forget what the officiant wanted me to repeat.
We then took family photos outside and I was overwhelmed. Everyone was there and it should not be a surprise. I've seen these people and been a part of my cousin's weddings and family photos too but it is just extra special when you're in the center and it's your wedding. After the photos we went up to my penthouse suite to start the tea ceremony. It is a part of our culture that I wanted my Caucasian/Spanish husband to experience. His family also wanted to take part and it was beautiful. Moving on, our wedding party got in our limo and headed to Queen Elizabeth Park for photos. I was lucky that the weather was between blazing heat and overcast. Had it been nothing but sun the whole time, I would have melted and my make up ruined - besides, overcast is best for photos.

We didn't have time for games and between cake cutting, our first dance, the father-daughter dance, and dinner, I barely had time for anything. I relied on guests telling me how good the food is because you really truly don't have time to eat. The moment you leave the head table, it'll take 20 minutes to get back. But I loved every moment of it. It took me 15 minutes to get from one side of the room to the other. I would be at the photo booth at one end and someone would need me at the bar. I would take a few photobooth pictures, get pulled to the side for a quick chat and introduction to someone's family, dance my way through the dance floor, get pulled in for a few more photos and finally make it to the bar. But honestly, I would not have it any other way.
I was worried at first because I don't like attention or all eyes on me. But what was looking back at me were eyes filled with love, tears, and admiration. And that is the type of audience you want looking at you on this special day. One of the most memorable moments was when we wheeled my 95-year-old grandma to the dance floor. She has a bad back and bad legs so she would just watch us from the sidelines. But for her to be here on this day is too special to miss. My 12 cousins and I, as well as her 12 great grandchildren, danced with her in the middle and she had a permanent smile on her face. It was the most amazing moment ever. I will never forget that moment. Honestly if you ask, I can tell you what did not go according to plan, but if you also ask me what went well, I would say EVERYTHING. (Professional photos to come. These are all phone cameras)
