The story of our wedding

Ian and I met while we were both travelling abroad in Thailand and it was love at first sight. We both lived in different countries but that didn't stop us from constantly talking to each other and eventually visiting each other's home towns. We got engaged a little over a year after we met and unfortunately had to spend the next four months between our engagement and wedding apart in our respective countries. Planning a wedding while being so far apart is very difficult and not something either of us would recommend if you can avoid it! Despite the difficulties, we had planning our wedding turned out even more magical than we could have ever imagined. Both of us always imagined a wedding in the mountains but unfortunately, we had too many guests, many of them travelling quite far, to have the actual wedding ceremony in Canmore, Alberta. However, thanks to our amazing photographers we were still able to realize our dreams of having winter wedding photos done in the mountains. Hosted in the Great Hall of the Canadian Croatian Cultural Center, a beautiful location, our ceremony was also perfect. We were married with the backdrop of an amazing wall of flowers with amazing lighting. We also held the reception at the Croatian Center right after the ceremony. It was awesome having both events in the same place back to back as the guests didn't have to leave and occupy themselves for a few hours! The decorations, food and set up of the centre was amazing and exactly what I had always imagined my wedding looking like! We had a dessert bar filled with cupcakes, cake pops and all of our favourite candies as well as the most beautiful (and delicious) wedding cake! We had a blast and looking back everything was perfect! We are both so amazingly happy with how the wedding turned out! <3
