24 Oct, 2020The story of our wedding
This wedding was in the works for months and changed a million times to fit within the changing restrictions. Planning with wedding on your own during normal times is not easy but during covid added 10x the fun! Even before covid hit, Oct 24 was always meant to be a small, intimate church wedding for immediate family before we held a friends/family destination wedding in Jamaica Nov 11. Since Jamaica has been postponed indefinitely, we ending up moving forward with our plans for a local wedding Oct 24 2020. Everything seemed to be going as planned until we heard the announcement York Region was moving into modified stage 2 a week before our wedding. We contemplated and stressed over re-planning the evening, having the reception move to an outdoor tent but in the end we ended up ensuring the safety of our guests by cancelling the reception completely. We're SO happy we decided to continue with our church ceremony for 24 and still celebrate our love. All our vendors were so accommodating to the changing conditions, for which we are very grateful. Our reception venue, Eagles Nest did a complete turnaround literally days before the wedding to accommodate our change from 24 guests to a 10 person catering takeaway menu. And they still allowed us to take our bride and groom photos at beautiful locations around the golf course. Our cake (Melanie's cake) and flowers (Secrets Floral) quickly adapted from delivery to the venue to delivery to the house. Our photographer (Love Ivy) was super accommodating to the changing locations and we're already so happy with the sneak peak photos she sent a day after the wedding. Sonia, my makeup artist, had amazing communication throughout the planning and did exactly what I imagined. ALL the vendors were found through wedding wire and we cannot be more grateful at how amazing and true to their great reviews they were. This app made the planning process so easy and kept us on track. Maybe we'll use it again soon when we can start planning our Jamaican destination wedding reception :)To all couples planning a covid wedding, don't get wrapped up on covid restrictions like early bar closing times, no dancing, mask wearing etc. Be happy for the opportunity to continue to hold small, intimate celebrations with those who love you most. Everyone is very understanding and would rather you enjoy the now, allowing you to continue into the next chapter of your lives!
