The story of our wedding

We were lucky enough to have perfect weather for our big day, it was 20 degrees and set right by the harbourside. Our outdoor ceremony was part of the Marriott Halifax harbourfront and it fit our 90 guests perfectly. We had a private space at the sable deck and brought in our own decor and chairs from various vendors in Halifax. We then went with our photographer Ashley Cecilia to Purdy's Wharf to take formal pictures. It was quite windy but made for a fun experience. After more formal pictures, we went next door to the top floor of the Lower Deck to a private event space called the Tap Room. Here we had a cocktail hour for our guests, a cocktail style reception, an acoustic local artist playing. The usual formalities went smoothly – for example, first dance, cake cutting and speeches. We decided to have passed apps and a big set up for food and it was provided by the lower deck. They also had kickass bartenders with a private bar! Our decor was moved over from the ceremony to the reception so we didn’t have to double up on decor rentals, it kept with the theme and was great to reuse. We had an untraditional cake from a local cheesecake shop which was delicious. We tried to keep everything local, nautical and low key and it was a magical day and night.
