31 Mar, 2018The story of our wedding
We were married at Bert Church Performing Arts Theater at 6 pm in a snowstorm. We started decorating that afternoon, there is a green room for the bride to get ready in with mirrors, great lighting, couches and racks for dresses. My artificial flowers were made by my friend, hair and makeup by “envy olds” (now located at olds town square). The Bert church staff were very helpful, they even had the steamer out for us in the green room. The boys got ready in the basement where the dance crews prepare. We had a secret moment just the two of us (and photographer) in the back hallway without seeing each other. This was so precious to slow down and connect while we could hear the chaos of decorating on the other side of the door. We had private moments with each of our families back there also. It is a beautiful venue with exposed brick and unique lighting and lots of windows. We had a dance and appetizers to follow in the lobby and sparklers as we exited the doors all the way down the stairs to our car. We served coffee before the ceremony and had Rocky Mountain BBQ cater appetizers and our wedding cake that was served during the dance! My dress is an old one from Value Village that was altered by a friend. The Grooms tux is from RW & Co. at cross iron mills and the groomsmen and bridesmaids bought their own clothes within a colour palette. We all wore sneakers (Vans mostly)! Anni Lygas photography (Didsbury) and Jule photography (Airdrie) captured our day beautifully and a few months later we all hiked up prairie mountain for “Real Wedding Photos”. These 2 photographers are creative, fun, calming and professional. They are adventuresome and dedicated to their art. They work well together since they are sisters-in-law and have a lot of photoshoot experience together.
