10 Aug, 2019The story of our wedding
We met on a snowboard outing with a mutual friend. We have been good friends for 7 years before starting to date during Canada 150 celebrations. Both of us like putting a creative spin into our work and daily lives. So, when it was strongly encouraged that we have a ceremony near family instead of eloping we knew we just had to make it our own.
We included elements of our adventurous and childish sides by including a treehouse ceremony and a bike ride through our village. We did practically everything ourselves from the entire venue, to invites, to the wooden rings, to his bow tie, to her dress and well you get the picture. Our goals were to keep it practical; keep it low cost (under $7000 for 120 guests); limit waste (only 1.5 bags of garbage the day of), and most importantly make sure our guests have fun.
It turned out to be the perfect day with only a brief shower that ended in a rainbow! We’ve been told numerous times that that is good luck. Everyone had a blast and some may even say the highlight was the chainsaw toss we did with our guests. Our advice to those planning is to keep what you want to a priority- don’t follow the norm if that’s not you (a wedding can be whatever you dream it to be); keep your guests' needs in mind, and have fun with it.
