The story of our wedding

On my Birthday in September of 2019, Martyn took me for a surprise getaway to Squamish. We went for a few different hikes that day, and it was rather wet. We are no strangers to a wet hike, but for some reason, whilst we walked around Alice Lake, Martyn was acting more oddly than usual. It transpired that he was planning to propose at Alice Lake unbeknownst to me. We headed back to our tiny cabin he had rented for the weekend, and he cooked me my favourite dinner. He announces there was no dessert, and in lieu of dessert he gets down on one knee. I was completely in shock, but of course eventually said "YES" when I snapped out of it! After a beat I ask "so there's really no dessert?". We decided to start planning thing in the spring, but then a little something happened that put everything on hold. We decided not to even entertain the idea as we knew we had a lot of family that would want to travel. Fast forward 4 or so years later. We got married at The Cheekye Ranch in the beautiful Squamish. It was a weekend glamping wedding, bringing our friends and family from England and North America together, to show them why we live in this amazing part of the world! We wanted a mixture of trailers and food stations to give a market/festival vibe, we had soft serve ice cream, doughnuts, a wild havens lounge tent, paella, tacos and a superb little trailer bar!For our first look our photographers took us to a mossy area of the forests nearby, and it was such a magical moment, seeing each other for the first time surrounded by the nature we love. Being in BC we had a few different seasons and we had to pivot the ceremony to be inside our reception tent instead of the intended outdoor area, but I can't imagine it any other way. Walking up to the tent and seeing everyone's faces looking back at me is a memory for a lifetime.
