19 Jun, 2022The story of our wedding
A little bit about ourselves first. We are high school sweethearts who tied the knot on June. 19, 2022. We defied all odds by meeting on Tinder after Marta's best friend thought it would be hilarious to make her a pretend dating profile at age 17. On the other hand, Michael set a New Years resolution to find his first girlfriend. Unexpectedly, it was truly the beginning of a beautiful love story that blossomed at a young age. For both of us, we were each others first and only loves.
Almost 4 years after the first date and lots and lots of memories in between, Michael planned a surprise trip to Killarney, Ontario. Both of us love spending time together outdoors, so Michael organized a stunning fall hike to "The Crack." After a few hours of uphill climbing, we reached the most beautiful and intimate viewpoint imaginable. As we were taking in the stunning views, Michael pointed into the distance at an "owl" (that was no where to be found). When Marta turned around, she saw Michael down on one knee and she couldn't be more excited to marry the love of her life. Luckily, we had a photographer there to capture our special moment that we love to look back on.

We took the initiative to plan our wedding ourselves and spent hours putting everything together for our big day. This was no easy task, especially considering that we were the first out of any of our friends to get married. Crazy? No. Just happily in love. The endless hours of venue touring, contacting vendors and deciding back and forth on the smallest details paid off.
We know understand the cliché. Our wedding day was truly the best day of our lives. It was all worth it in the end.
The wedding day morning nerves were strong but quickly turned into excitement by being surrounded by our closest family and friends. After the bride and all of her favourite woman took hours to get ready (and the groom and his favourite men played cards), we did a first look at a wonderful botanical garden (and Michael did indeed shed a few tears). This was one of our favourite moments together as it really allowed us to take a second for just the two of us. We had a stunning church ceremony surrounded by loved ones and then our family and bridal party joined us for pictures.
We took the limo to the venue with our bridal party and we were so excited to see all of our planning come to light. All of our vendors did an incredible job allowing for our day to go smoothly.
We wanted an elegant, romantic, and fun wedding that incorporated our Ukrainian and Polish culture. Our evening was full of amazing food, a magical first dance, traditional customs, funny yet heartfelt speeches that left us crying, and lots of dancing. We really enjoyed adding personalized touches throughout our wedding such as: writing speeches to each other, sharing our love story and how we met with our guests, creating a slideshow with pictures from our childhood, printing off photos from our engagement to display around the venue and most importantly, letting our love for one another shine.
