25 Aug, 2018The story of our wedding
We got engaged after 15 years of being together – he took me to dinner at the Lakehouse in Vineland March 18/18 (he had planned on Valentine's day but I was very ill and so it was delayed). After a romantic dinner he popped the question in the car at the same place where we had our very first kiss, lakeside. I talked about waiting another year, but he wanted to "lock it in" by the end of the summer and since he had told me he didn't want a fiftieth birthday party, our wedding became the celebration for his fiftieth year as well. We had planned to have the ceremony at lakeside, but with rain coming on, Casablanca Inn was kind enough to provide us with an emergency plan of using their Traditions room. My four daughters were our bridesmaids (23, 21, 10 and 8). Our golden retriever (Houdini) was our ringbearer. My husband had his best friend from childhood as his best man and our brother-in-law as an attendant. Dream Wedding's Krista Gomez provided a lovely ceremony for us. Joseph from Doug Wolters Photography documented everything from the minute my girls and I started getting ready until the end of the reception, creating a nice record of our beautiful memories. Harpist Rachel Nolan put together a wonderful score for the ceremony including a special arrangement of Music Box Dancer by Frank Mills for our daughters to walk down the aisle. Michael's favourite moment was the moment we first kissed during the ceremony. Mine was walking down the aisle to see him waiting at the altar with tears in his eyes. The reception was held in Casablanca's Panorama room, where we truly felt as if we were out at the water – the view was spectacular. The food was catered by Casablanca was plentiful and delicious, accomodating all our guests' dietary needs. The one special request my husband had was to have the napkins folded like roses, and they took the time to watch a video and learn how to do it for him. Our beautiful cake was created by Cake by Cheryl and was the most delicious cake we have ever eaten. We danced the night away and then stayed in the gorgeous honeymoon suite until the next day when we flew off to Cuba for a wonderful honeymoon (our first trip ever away together for longer than 24 hours) arranged by MJ Gatenby of Travel Only. We could not have asked for a better day. Everyone told us they enjoyed the time and there seemed to be no strife anywhere. This wedding site made it so easy to plan an keep track of seating arrangements, wedding invites, shower details. Thanks to WeddingWire too.
