8 Sep, 2019The story of our wedding
Our wedding was held in the Historic Lower Deck Tap Room which is on the Waterfront in Historic Properties Halifax, Nova Scotia. Held the day after Hurricane Dorion ravaged our shores. It really was nerve racking until we found out late morning it was a go. A lot of rushing but family and friends arrived to the rescue and assisted in us getting everything ready. It was a traditional Scottish Handfasting Ceremony officiated by Angela Jefferies of Handfasting by Angela Jefferies Facebook Page. Alex of CreativeAlex arrived to take our pictures. Thanks to the Barrington Inn for letting me arrive early in my room for Makeup Artist Ellen and Hair Artist Kristin Dominis from Aveva Salons. Mike wore his traditional tartan Kilt bought and Prince Charlie jacket and vest provided by The Plaid Place Barrington Place Mall. My dress was Stella York from Chester and Felicity. Our favourite moments were the Handfasting because it meant so much to us both, we loved the Shoe Game (you have to try that – so much fun), our live band She Loves Me Not got the party started, the entire Venue The Lower Deck resonated with the focus of the wedding which was our Celtic heritage. It's a very Historic Place in Halifax and is part of Historic Properties on the Waterfront. I planned the wedding myself along with all the decorations and details and I loved doing it. I loved finding little special details that made it mean more to us as well as our friends and family. It was also great because Kelsey McKenzie the Event Coordinator was all I needed to finish up last-minute details. She took care of tables and music and no linens to buy or tableware. All is provided. I also was glad we chose our close friend Gloria to MC the wedding. She did a phenomenal job and it kept the night flowing so we could enjoy all the special moments of our wedding! We had a buffet to make the night flow better and each table was named after a Scottish word so that tables were called and made it easier for the guests. I would not have changed a thing it was absolutely beautiful and just as I had envisioned!
