2 Jun, 2018The story of our wedding
We got married at the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, BC. Since over 60% of our guests were coming from out of town (many coming to the Vancouver area for the first time), we wanted to give them the best experience that the West Coast could offer. Also, since this venue is a tourist destination (known for its views of mountains and water), we knew that decorations would be minimal!
We rented 2 airbnbs in Squamish where our families stayed, and where we got ready in the morning. We didn't rent any transportation and had family and friends transport us to the venue.
Our ceremony took place on the Spirit Trail Lookout. We had 100 guests attend, but could only allot seating for 40 guests as per the space requirements. Luckily, our younger guests were respectful and ensured that priority seating went to direct family and seniors. Unfortunately, since the venue is more ruggeed, no sound systems could be plugged in. We used our own portable speakers (JBL Xtreme + Charge 3) for our music, and just spoke loudly. The ceremony could not have been more perfect weather wise (the sun broke through the clouds as soon as the ceremony began), and it could not have been more beautiful.

As a couple (with the photographers), we hiked out to the Chief Overlook viewing platform to take some more photos. The photographers from Lucky Studios really had great vision; the pictures turned out amazing, regardless of how we don't consider ourselves to be photogenic.
We had our wedding coordinator and DJ orchestrate the grand entrance with our wedding party, and from there the reception began. We had food, speeches, an ongoing photobooth, and an open bar featuring a "his" drink and "her" drink. The venue's cocktail drinks and food were spectacular! My mom also tried her hand at making our wedding cake with flowers provided by our florist (Celsia Floral). It was the 4th wedding cake she's made, and turned out great!
Since the venue space was small, we had to clear some tables in order to begin the wedding games (shoe game, guess the bride by leg caress, guess the groom by facial caress, and balloon pop against other couples); and then onto dancing till 12pm.
We can safely say that we enjoyed our wedding celebration and that all the work we put into it was worth it! It was nothing short of amazing and truly memorable!
