4 Oct, 2019The story of our wedding
Where do I begin? Nick and I talked about getting engaged for a whole year before it happened. We were engaged on February 15, 2018. We were out for dinner one evening and then he decided he wanted to marry me. No ring, no plan, but all the love in the world. It was enough for me, and I said yes. The next day I sent him a picture of a sailor moon designed wedding ring from Sapphire Studios in Australia and that sealed the deal. Nick wanted to wait to tell people until it arrived, but I told my best friend anyway. I am not very good at keeping secrets.
We started our wedding process with finding a venue. We went to the Cambridge Mill first and I knew I wanted to get married in the Fallsroom. Nick did not want to choose the first place we saw, so we went and saw six places. I do not recommend going to six places, it was a bit much. In the end, Cambridge Mill won.
I decided the theme for our wedding should be Sailor Moon, and Nick being a fellow Nerd loved it. Our flowers and centrepieces came together very easily, and each one of my bridesmaids was designated a sailor scout. I completed all the décor myself and I bought most of the things I needed on Aliexpress and Walmart.com. I wore a custom made replica of Queen Serenity’s crown, and it was AWESOME! I wore blinged-out sneakers, which were comfortable and stylish.

My dream dress was no longer available in my size, so I ended up ordering a dress that was too normal for my liking. I ended up hating it so much, I went a bought another dress, which I loved. Our preferred suit colour was lost by the factory so we had to come up with another plan. Lastly, I got major anxiety in the last month. Not all brides have the cookie-cutter experience, it turns out I was one of them.
However, OUR WEDDING WAS AMAZING!
I had a rocky start to my morning, but I loved spending time at our salon with my best friends. Our videographers Chris and Moshan of Token weddings helped capture our day in a way that felt like us. (were still waiting for our video, but I am so excited to see it). Jeff from Maeck Wedding was our officiant and was one of the highlights of our day. He tailored our ceremony to be perfect. At the reception, we got asked a lot how long we had know jeff for.
The Cambridge Mill team took care of everything and made us feel like gold. If anything ever went wrong we would not know. We loved that they brought us snacks across the street when we were taking our pictures. Our meal was beyond tasty and was just what Nick and I wanted. Being Vegetarians we didn’t want the standard Vegetarian meals and the Mill delivered. We even had midnight poutines. Yummy!
We had so many compliments on the food, venue, vows, ceremony, and dresses. In the end, with the bad and the good, we came away with our dream wedding at a very affordable cost. It was perfectly us.
