24 Aug, 2018The story of our wedding
This past August I married the love of my life in the most gorgeous setting, The Forest Chapel at Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat. I knew as soon as I came accross this Glamping venue that it was perfect for us. I grew up living in a log house in the forest and the chapel reminded me of my childhood. I decided to go with greenery instead of flowers as that too reminds me of my childhood. I had Julie from Quinn's Blooms & Greenery make me the most beautiful fern bouquets, fern garlands for centerpieces and succulebt cake toppers. It was perfect for the setting!
Once we decided on a date and venue it was time to get a dress. After a few weeks of searching I had found the one. It was a Maggie Sottero called Hazel which has a beautuful overskirt. The twist? The day before I ordered my dress I found out I was pregnant. This would mean I would be 6 months pregnant at our wedding. Luckily I called around to a few seamstresses and found Elizabeth from Labl Couture in downtown Toronto who was confident she could make the dress I had my heart set on work and she did just that! It looked amazing once she was done.

We lucked out with the weather, it ended up being a beautiful August day. The ceremony started at 4pm in the forest and it was dreamy! My husband and I had worked for months on the music, he's a DJ so we decided to make a mix to play instead of paying a DJ. The music we chose for the forest and ceremony was very unique and ethereal and almost everyone commented on how beautiful it was.
After the ceremony the wedding party headed off for photos while the rest of the guests headed to the pavillion for cocktails and hour d'oeuvres. Once we were done with photos everyone took their seats in the tent for dinner. We had amazing BBQ food (Smoke Signals BBQ out of Toronto) which suited the venue perfectly and everyone raved about the food afterwards.
Following dinner we cut the cake and then we had the exciting gender reveal. My sister had made a box which we hung from the tent that was filled with blue balloons. My husband and I had no idea of the gender and we were very excited to find out we were having another boy!
Dessert was then served followed by our first dances and the party. We had a blast dancing to all of our favourite music with our favourite people until the wee hours of the morning. Then we all retired back to our own private luxury safari tents which came complete with furniture, electricity and ensuite washrooms. The perfect end to the most perfect day! ❤❤
