19 Oct, 2019The story of our wedding
It was the most exciting and fantastic day of our lives. We had all our family and friends in the same place on earth in the exact place where we first met on our first date. We stayed at Rocky Mountain Resort and threw a welcome BBQ for all our friends and family to meet and get to know one another on the Thursday night, headed downtown to Highrollers BOWLING & Cookies & Ice Cream and - WHAT A BLAST, for the little kids and the big kids... lol! Friday morning a convoy of cars to Lake Louise for a hike and visit to the majestic Fairmont Lake Louise for hot chocolate... yum!!! Welcome reception at the Main Lodge and hors d'oeuvres and surprise wedding tribute video to Piotr & an amazing wedding gift from our groomsman JP that touched the hearts of family and friends and was so meaningful to us. Saturday, the day of the wedding... a relaxing morning with breakfast in the room together and time to reflect on us and unplug. Went for a drive and then got together to decorate the venue and stack our wedding cake (that was an adventure lol) back to the loft room for champagne and lunch and hair and makeup. It snowed all morning and at 12noon we had to decide indoor wedding or outdoor???? My faith in the mountains and the weather gods was begging just please part the clouds for us for the ceremony and we rolled the dice 🎲 lol. Snowed till 2:40 pm, walked to the ceremony site for 3pm and the snow held off till after we got hitched. I may have missed the turn to walk down the aisle lol as my young nephew was nervous and we missed the turn but it got a good laugh and Piotr's smile was so big that I saw nothing but him in that moment. We kissed and this time with my husband's guidance we walked down the aisle hand in hand. Champagne was served and fluffy big snowflakes fell with everyone sticking out there tongues to catch the perfect flake, lots of laughter and hugs and smiles... a PERFECT MOMENT IN TIME!!! Pictures offsite and the snow stopped, the clouds parted to reveal the Great Canadian Rockies as the backdrop. We even had the pleasure of guests from a tour bus joining us in our photos lol. Dinner was Western-themed with firepit and s'mores and hip of beef brought in on a pitch fork to the buffet to be carved... a full cowboy dinner with beans and baked potatoes with all the fixins!!! We all danced and laughed the night away and our Wedding Ice Cream Cakes were a HIT not a piece left in site. In the absence of my late father, my friends arranged for my Uncle Ed (my dad's younger brother) to have a special dance with me. Took my breath away and my new husband dancing with my Mother it was a special memory indeed. Watching the kids run around and dance and have the best time made all the planning that much sweeter!! Brunch the next morning and visits before some departed home. A family hike and visit up to my beloved Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel that I worked at for a good portion of my adult life and gave a private family tour of the castle lol. Party that night downtown and local friends and old work colleagues at The Rose & Crown that night with snacks and laughs and saw lots of dear friends of ours. What more could we ask for how loved we felt that weekend... it will be hard to top as the best weekend of our lives. Cheers to love all around us and the memories we and all our loved ones will carry for a lifetime Sincerely Nicki & Piotr Apanowicz
