Sassafraz is a Toronto-based restaurant that specializes in hosting weddings and other special events in the center of historic Yorkville. It has the capacity to host both large and small wedding with its combination of private event spaces. It is quite affordable considering it's a downtown location with Victorian charm. - Cumberland: This larger space accommodates up to 82 seated guests and up to 80 standing up.
- Combined: Both rooms boast floor to ceiling frosted glass panels which add a romantic and elegant touch to the room. Together they have a capacity for up to 110 seated guests.
- Main Dining Room: This is the most perfect space for larger weddings with a capacity for up to 150 seated guests and up to 300 standing up.

A magical evening!
Celebrated our wedding at Sassafraz on Aug 25, 2024. We had appx 85 guests, and bought out the dining room along with the
upstairs area. We hosted the reception on the second floor, then later moved downstairs for the dining/dancing. The amount of room
on both floors was perfect for the number of guests we had. Everything went as smoothly as we could have hoped for. The entire
Sassafraz team made sure that each and every aspect of our wedding was perfectly executed to our specifications.
The reception and dining/dancing area were beautifully staged with Dennette and staff coordinating with all of our vendors in
order to maximize the wow factor.
Each and every one of our guests raved about the settings, food and service. We couldn’t have been happier, and our expectations
were sky high. Sassafraz exceeded all of them, and transformed our special occasion into a spectacular event. We found the cost
to be more than reasonable considering the venue, location, food, service and attention to detail. These guys are pros…and it shows.
To Dennette and the entire team at Sassafraz, thank you so very much for a magical evening! We (and our guests) were blown away!

Highly Recommended!!!!
Dennette , her team and the staff were super professional and friendly! My guests and my husband and I really had an amazing time! My wedding was on September 19th, during a pandemic and everything went according to the plan!
Throughout the planning process,Dennette responded super quickly and was on top of everything! She helped to make our wedding planning super smooth! Every single one of my guests said that the food was divine and the service was superb! We couldn’t be happier with how everything went.
I highly recommend Sassafraz as the venue for the wedding ceremony and reception!

Amazing Food and Service
The staff at Sassafraz were amazing!! They were extremely friendly and made sure everyone had fresh drinks at all times. The food was absolutely delicious! I can't recommend this venue enough!!

Amazing venue!!!
This is such a hidden gem!
1. It comes with table cloths, menus etc.
2. There is no room rental (for a goregous room) as long as you meet a reasonable room rental fee.
3. The food and drink is incredible. Guests complimented the food constantly.
4. There was a beautiful bridal suite. It let in lots of natural light and there was a wall of greenery. It made for goregous pictures.
5. Bridal suite plus two private rooms. There was a traditional ceremony set up . There was a separate space for cocktail hour/mingling. During the cocktail hour the staff efficently set up our wedding meal time.
6. Flexible bar choices (we chose to have wine and beer and soft drinks). Multiple menu choices for every course of the meal.
7. A lift for guests with mobility concerns.

Easiest planning ever!
The team at Sassafraz was incredible from the first email through the planning meetings, food tastings, additional vendor recommendations, actual day of service, and inevitable follow up day when we had to return to retrieve what we had left behind after all that excitement. It was as close as you could get to a one stop shop in terms of event planning and we couldn't have been happier or more grateful. All of our guests loved the food and the service, and it was amazing all around!

It was the perfect wedding venue
From the beginning of our planning process, we knew we wanted an intimate venue with incredible food. We found exactly that at Sassafraz. Dennette was great to work with, and alongside our planner executed a phenomenal day for us. Could not say enough about the delicious food and the timely and gracious service. We also loved how we had the use of both floors so that people could choose to opt out of the dancing and chat down in the dining room if that's what they wanted to do.
It's a day we will forever look back on with wonderful memories, and we can't thank the Sassafraz team enough for helping us create those memories. Looking forward to coming back for our anniversary!

Better than we could have dreamed
Everything about Sassafraz was perfect. They were flexible as we planned our wedding from South Korea. They days leading up to the wedding were perfect. We had easy access to the rooms to set up the day before. The day of, Jeff was the most amazing host for us. Everything I could think of, he had already done. They plated our Cinnabons with extra personalized decor on the plates. Everything was perfect and the food was amazing!

Perfect, Intimate Wedding
I would like to start off by saying that we had THE most perfect wedding at Sassafraz. The level of service we received on our day was exceptional. The staff was kind, attentive, quick, patient and felt like they wanted to be there rather than having to be there. The food was the talk of our wedding, the quality of the meals was very high. The venue is beautiful on its own, and we felt it was spacious yet intimate.
I was never worried about anything and the Dennette was an absolute pleasure to work with. Very organized and answered all my questions and concerns, no detail was too small for her. The fact that I never was aware of small hiccups that happened and everything was taken care so seamlessly. I highly recommend this venue for a wedding!
