About

Paired with some of the best catering Whistler has to offer and served among the largest collection of Squamish and Líl’wat native art and exhibits, the Squamish Líl’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler provides a unique venue for corporate galas, dramatic incentives and memorable weddings. Beyond the culinary experiences, atmosphere and incredible architectural design, it is the staff and exhibits at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre that create a perfectly unique evening. Engaging conversations with the Ambassadors, wandering through the exhibits, watching the film, and learning the legends and folklore of Whistler’s First Nations people will create lasting memories for your guests.

Facilities and capacity

Located on the main level, the Great Hall can accommodate up to 300 guests for a reception or 150 for a sit-down dinner. Decorating the Great Hall are spectacular weavings, canoes, carvings and windows that look north over Lost Lake. The Istken Hall is a dynamic, round room with a perimeter of windows looking into Lost Lake woods. The ground level, including the Istken Hall and Thunderbird café area, is also available for daytime or evening rentals. This 7,000-square-foot deck floats into the forest and allows guests a view of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Each summer, 2,500 square feet of patio are covered in retractable awnings, creating an outdoor weather resistant event space.

Services offered

The Centre hosts a variety of weddings each year, from ceremonies to dinners and receptions. All types of weddings are welcome at the Cultural Centre, and highly customizable packages allow you to create the special day that you are looking for. To make this day special, the Cultural Centre does require that couples have a wedding planner on the day of the event to assist with any details leading up to the big day.

Location

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is located in Whistler, British Columbia, on Blackcomb Way (4584) and Lorimer Road right across from the Fairmont Chateau Whistler in the Upper Village.

Beautiful venue!

We had our wedding on the mezzanine patio and longhouse and it was amazing! Beautiful venue with a stunning backdrop of the forest and mountains. Highly recommend!

This is one of the most stunning venues in Whistler hands down. We wanted something with character and life, which the SLCC is bursting with. Our wedding was destination so we had only seen the venue through photos but when we were able to visit a few months before we were blown away with the beauty of it. The staff were extremely accommodating with us and went above and beyond our "high maintenance" requests! The day played out beautifully and everything was truly magical. I can not thank the SLCC and everyone who played a part of our big day enough. We had our ceremony on the mezzanine outside and our reception in the Istken Hall which are absolutely stunning. It was nice to have everything in one venue so our guests were comfortable while we left for photos in-between the ceremony and reception. The food was delicious and the service was amazing as we had a plated dinner and open bar. I would recommend this venue over and over again for anyone's wedding!

We chose the SLCC to host our two wedding ceremonies (cultural and western), along with our reception. We hosted our cultural ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception outdoor on the mezzanine level patio under the cover of their retractable roof (as it was lightly drizzling at the time). The outdoor location made for a beautiful backdrop against the nearby forest and Blackcomb Mountain. We also used Istken Hall (indoors) for our western ceremony in the afternoon and dancing later in the evening. The unique design of this round room was perfect for our ceremony, and made for a great dance floor.

After looking at over 8 different venues in Whistler for our wedding, we could not have been happier with our choice of the SLCC! The staff that we worked with were extremely responsive, flexible to our needs, and very professional. The staff present during the day of our wedding could not have been more friendly, polite, and helpful. We highly recommend this unique venue to any other couples considering a wedding in Whistler, BC.
