Located in the historic Students’ Union Building on the University of Alberta Campus, the Horowitz Events Centre houses several exceptional venues to accommodate your ceremony and reception: Dinwoodie Lounge, The Atrium and Plaza, and Room at the Top. Our modern event spaces are equipped with everything you need for a seamless event.
Our Packages & Offerings
As an all inclusive event space, the Horowitz Events Centre provides professional on-site venue management, first-class catering, fully serviced bars, experienced event staff, integrated AV/sound, and banquet furnishings. We would also be happy to provide a curated list of recommended vendors that will help you achieve your vision for the big day.
Choose one of our packages and mix and match our venue spaces! Our coordinators will assist you in finalizing all the details for your momentous day. In addition to our two comprehensive packages, we offer a variety of additions to help eliminate the stress of planning. If you’re looking for something more customized, speak with a member of our team for assistance in bringing your vision to life.
We also offer space for all kinds of wedding-related celebrations, including engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, and receptions. Our dedicated team understands that getting married is a momentous occasion, and we aim to provide every couple with an unforgettable experience that’s as stress-free as possible.
Catering & Bar Service
Our experienced catering team delights in crafting delicious fare! Our plated dinners are carefully curated to impress your guests, and you are welcome to choose your favourites if you would prefer a buffet. We also offer a wide selection of hors d'oeuvres, grazing boards, action stations, and midnight snacks to complete your day.
Let our very capable bartenders serve you and your guests all evening long. We are happy to offer cash, host, and toonie bar options and can elevate your event with champagne service and table wine on request.

Room at the Top Reception
We worked with event coordinator Lia to organize everything and she was amazing! She would send us lists of questions about things I never knew to even think of. I would have missed so many things had she not been there to ask. She also organized rentals for us. The only thing we had to worry about was setting up our own table decorations. We were able to go the day before to set everything up. There was a small hiccup with this as there was another wedding setting up for the same day as us in a different room so we were delayed with that. We had about 95 guests and I think the space was perfect for that. It felt close, but I would not go much over that as there were not more spots for tables. Day of Derrick was our head guy that was able to help us out. Something from the bar was missing and he immediately went and got it. They also have a sound system our DJ was able to plug right into. The wait staff was great as well. CON It does not have AC. We didn't think to ask about AC because I just assumed all building has AC. They were amazing and kept the blinds down until we arrived, put fans around and even offered complimentary popsicles to help cool guests down but it was still hot. People went outside if they got too hot and I don't think it was terrible but it was toasty and had it been a 30-degree day with direct sunlight idk how hot it would have gotten.
A hidden little gem
the energy, vibes and how helpful everyone was made it a wonderful experience. If I could do my wedding again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
