Gem Custom Cakes made our wedding cake, and we could not have made a better choice!
Gordana really went above and beyond to learn about us and customize our cake: we would never have thought of putting our cake in a kilt to represent my husband's Scottish heritage! She added some red and gold floral motifs as a nod to my Indian heritage, and topped the cake with a fondant replica of our fluffy little pup.
As for the cake itself, it was light, creamy and moist despite being gluten free. -

My fiancé and I order samples for tasting and they were not very good, small portions for the price, and what we had asked for was totally ignored. We had sent the vendor the flavours we would like to try and 2 of 5 were met. The cakes were very dry and had little to no flavour. The vendor had reached out to me and asked if we had any questions or feedback and when I had replied kindly letting her know that I was disappointed as we didn’t get what we asked for, she never replied. The vendor runs her shop out of her home as well, it is not a professional bakery by any means. If you choose to order a wedding cake from this vendor please ensure you are getting what you asked/paid for. We are extremely disappointed.GeM Cakes's reply:

I apologize for the late reply; I am swamped during the wedding season.
I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. As a cake designer, I always strive to exceed my customers' expectations. When you requested a banana cake with chocolate filling and a chocolate cake with banana filling, I created these samples for you, even though they are not featured on my menu. The banana cake was made using real bananas and filled with chocolate ganache. The chocolate cake was made with vanilla pastry cream and caramelized bananas. Additionally, all of my cakes are brushed with simple syrup, which helps to keep them moist.

Reached out to vendor to enquire about the possibility of making a custom cake, drum snare base and a stand-up bass on top. Within a couple email exchanges, the vendor sent a sketch, we picked a flavour, the day of the wedding the cake arrived as as agreed upon, on time and absolutely glorious! The vendor worked with our caterer to secure the set-up of the cake and to leave instructions on how to tackle cutting it. We did not have to worry about anything, thank you so much for bringing our vision to life! The cake was stunning and delicious, and the bonus was the vendor's excitement to make the cake!! 🤗

Gordana was AMAZING
From the cake testing to our final product she was able to execute our vision perfectly.
She understood my needs. Our cake was the perfect size ! It was fresh, real authentic cake.

Gordana was super easy to work with and our cake tasted delicious. It was a bit expensive for how small it was, but I suppose that is to be expected for anything associated with the wedding industry lol. In all, definitely recommend!GeM Cakes's reply:

Gordana provided such a beautiful wedding cake for us on our special day. After doing a cake tasting at her home along with my mom and sister, we were very impressed with the quality and texture of her cakes. We ordered a tall, single tier, yellow vanilla cake with passion fruit curd and buttercream. She was flexible with the delivery time and worked with us to deliver it to the venue which we really appreciated. Thank you so much for a wonderful wedding cake!GeM Cakes's reply:
