We put a lot of pressure on the food for our wedding day and really wanted our guests to be pampered, which is why we chose to do a 3 course plated meal. We had an amazing private tasting experience that set our expectations pretty high, and unfortunately it didn’t translate on the wedding day.

Before getting into the details of the food, I will say Blank Canvass was generally good to deal with. They accommodated dietary restrictions and some menu selection changes along the way. At times our communication was a bit slow, but that was to be expected with how busy the 2022 wedding season was for vendors.

Now for the food:

Our cocktail hour food was really good, and plentiful. We only got a small taste as we were taking photos but from what we had it was delicious.

Unfortunately for dinner we found that service was very slow which meant some folks were waiting over an hour between courses. Some guests had cold food as a result and a few guests mentioned undercooked chicken as well. The exception is that our food (bride and groom) was very good, warm and timely.

During our late night snack we wanted to serve pizza and kettle chips as the pizza at JRG restaurants is usually amazing! Again, unfortunately it didn’t translate. The pizza was like it had been ordered-in hours earlier sat out for too long. it was dry, hard and generally pretty awful. The chips on the other hand were fantastic, and we ate the leftovers for 2 days afterwards.

Overall, we still love JRG restaurants, we just wish our wedding day food had lived up to our hopes for the day.

Blank Canvas allowed us to choose the meals we wanted and the food was delicious! A little tricky at times with the nuances of the venue, but overall a fabulous evening! We had chef attended stations for tacos, pastas, salads, and they served hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour.
