Lindocile catered and decorated for my wedding in July 2023. First, the decorator Veronique is amazing and she deserves much more than in life than to be employed by this business. The problem is with the owner, Geoffory. I’ve seen other reviews that described him as being “smug”, but that doesn’t even come close to actually describing this person. A clinical definition: “Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance”. This describes the owner in the most precise way. I’m not even sure he knows how much of a narcissist that he is, it’s sad really.
Allow me to explain using strictly factual information rather than emotional. Fact: During the planning process his prices changed and “administrative” fees increased on multiple occasions, after I had already paid the deposit and contracted for services. Fact: Geoffroy did not fulfil his end of the contract. He stated that the buffet would be all-you-can-eat style and failed to provide enough food for everyone’s first plate, where his staff was responsible for portioning the food. Geoffroy was not at the wedding (which I was aware of in advance). Fact: I had contracted for 8 servers and only 6 showed up which caused delays, and none of them looked like they wanted to be there. Nor did they fulfil their duties as stated in the contract (things such as pouring the first glass of wine for my guests, etc).
After dinner, I made an announcement that the cake cutting would be in about 10 minutes and exited the space to go check on something. When I returned less than 10 minutes later, the staff was already serving the wedding cake to my guests. And it was the WRONG CAKE! We had had numerous conversations prior to the event about the wedding cake. It was very important to us to have a dark chocolate and raspberry cake with buttercream icing. We printed menus for all of our guests that showed the dessert as being a dark chocolate and raspberry cake with buttercream icing. We had a cake cutting ceremony speech prepared talking about why we chose that particular cake. We had previously talked about the cake by text and email. We had talked several times at length about the cake, face to face, including the week before the wedding. When I dropped off the picture of the cake, the detailed information specifically stated dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing. And there was his staff, serving a white cake with a disgusting white whipped cream icing, to all my guests, before the cake cutting ceremony. His staff effectively robbed us of having our cake cutting ceremony entirely. I approached his staff member in charge and stated this was the wrong cake and she said she would contact Geoffroy immediately to advise. I sat down to take a bite of my piece of awful cake and immediately spit it back on to my plate because there was a GIANT HOUSEFLY baked into the cake!! I stepped outside and called him immediately, and he did not answer of course. In fact, from that moment forward he absolutely refused to acknowledge my existence, despite my numerous attempts to contact him. I attempted to settle the matter by requesting a partial refund for the cake that I did not order. No response. I advised that his behaviour in failing to acknowledge or address any of the issues brought forward was incredibly unprofessional, and if he continued to ignore me I would seek compensation through the courts. No response. He did not respond to my official demand letter. He did not respond to the plaintiff’s claim served to him by a process server. He did not respond to the courts. After I successfully obtained a judgment against him and Lindocile, and served him with the papers, I had to threaten to trigger the next step in the court process, which would find him in contempt of court, should he fail to respond to and pay the judgment. Only at that time did he send me a message “contact me for payment”. When I reached him by phone the first thing he said was “I guess you did a good job and got a wedding for a good price”. No sir. It wasn’t about the cost of the wedding. All of his costs were already paid in full prior to the wedding. It was about the fact he did not fulfil his contract in several ways, and then unprofessionally refused to acknowledge or address the numerous egregious issues, and then forced me to go through the courts to obtain justice. He had assumed that I would just “go away” like the other clients he has disappointed in the past. Then, after sending me a partial payment of the judgment he failed to send the remaining amount the following day as promised. Each day that passed I reminded him that post-judgment interest was accumulating daily and of that days amount due, until I finally stated that if he failed to make a payment or arrangement by the end of the week I would go back to the courts to enforce the order. His response? “Oh relax” with the sunglasses smiley face emoji, and then sent the final payment without giving me the e-transfer password to the e-transfer question “what are you?”, making me reach out yet again. As I stated before, be forewarned about considering doing business with this narcissistic and unprofessional business owner. These are the facts.
