The best food!

Kimi and Anthony are seriously so amazing! Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was! We hired them for cocktail, buffet reception dinner and our wedding cake. They work with you to design the perfect custom menu. I really appreciated that they took care of the rentals as well. They added in little details like little chalkboard menus that made everything look so nice. We ordered donuts from a separate vendor and their staff were able to set them up on cake stands for us.

So flexible and great! Exactly what we wanted :)

Full disclosure: We haven't actually had our wedding yet, but I wanted to share my review now because we have had truly SUCH a great experience thus far and I know that day-0f is going to be great.
Early on in the planning phase, my fiance and I agreed that one of the most important things to us was the food. We really wanted it to be a) delicious and b) represent us as a couple. Petojo really gets that, more than any other caterer we talked to. They built a custom menu proposal around our food memories and places we've traveled to as a couple and when I showed it to my mom, she actually teared up. When I showed one of my bridesmaids (who is also a caterer) she said, "this is the most in depth and personal proposal I have ever seen." Not only that, they allowed us to book a tasting with them prior to formally booking, took notes and feedback so well, and were also just so personable the entire way through. The tasting went so well that we, of course, booked them and we are so so SO excited for the amazing food that will be at our wedding.
We're having a very international menu with inspiration coming from many different places, yet they managed to make the meal flow perfectly. I feel so confident leaving everything in their hands - the rest of the wedding is very DIY, so I think that says a lot.
If you're thinking about talking to them, I strongly suggest you do!

Wedding Day Bridal Party Lunch

Petojo catered lunch for myself and the bridesmaids the day of my wedding. I contacted Kimi with this request and budget and she came up with an amazing menu for me. She also graciously accommodated multiple dietary restrictions (vegetarian and gluten free). I wish I had photos to share but can be honest in saying I still think about that lunch! We had: carrot ginger soup, a brown rice bowl with the most amazing dressing and a chocolate avocado pudding. They delivered to our getting ready room on time and communication with Kimi and Anthony was great the whole time.

Our guest still mention how delicious the food was!

I could not recommend Petojo Food & Catering enough. We were married in Sept of 2016 and we still have people comment on how fantastic the food was. Here are a few reasons why we think they are the ultimate wedding caterers.

Initial consultation: After meeting with 3 other catering companies, we were blown away with Petojo's approach in designing our custom menu. Kimi and AJ met us at a time that fit our schedule and were enthusiastic about working with us. They asked us great questions around food we ate when we first started dating, special meals we have prepared for each other over the years, what dishes we love when our partner makes dinner, food we enjoyed while traveling etc. We we beyond impressed with how they connected food and our relationship, it truly made our menu feel so special to the story of our relationship.

The Menu: We had a extremely impressive antipasti bar with Italian meats, assortment of cheeses, pickled goodies, olives and pate (representing my Italian heritage). There were lots of great nibbles during cocktail hour as well. We opted for buffet style and offered a taco station (inspired by Brian's killer pulled pork tacos; Alicia's favourite.) as well as a Thai curry station (stemming from our favourite dish while traveling Thailand; as well as Brian's favourite dish I now make at home). We had an assortment of fresh salads which came from my love of Brian's rice salads he introduced me to when we first started dating. Petojo also managed our bar and water station which was so extremely helpful. Our menu felt so personal and our guests loved how nontraditional it was for a (partly) Italian wedding.

Execution: As if the menu process wasn't enough to impress you, the execution of the event is sure to be the cherry on top. As with most brides, things going wrong is a huge fear and I literally lived my nightmare 4 days before our outdoor wedding when extreme and unusual weather hit Hamilton, Ont hard due to a hurricane off the west coast. With extreme wind and weather warnings for the day of, we moved our wedding indoors with 4 days to go. To say this was a stressful time is an understatement. Kimi absolutely showed up and held the level headed, calm and cool space I needed. We rented a small venue with a professional kitchen that needed A LOT of TLC. Their team put smiles on and seriously worked their butts off to make it a space they could work in. In between my mini meltdowns, a new venue and all sorts of curve balls, Petojo showed up, was flexible, came to the table with solutions and worked with us the whole way. I am so grateful for their dedicated team. They all stayed positive, professional and never added unnecessary stress to our plate.

Since working with them on our wedding we have ordered off their website multiple time. They are simply good at what they do and you can taste the love that goes into their food.

I recommend Petojo catering to the fullest degree and suggest you meet with them to see the fantastic things they can offer you.

I am a self-proclaimed ‘food nerd’, but I didn’t put that food knowledge to work until I founded Petojo Food & Catering with my brother, Anthony, in 2015.

Before that, I graduated with honours from Humber College’s Fashion Arts program in 2006 then earned a certificate in Project Management from The University of Toronto. I honed my business acumen and event and project management skills leading the Marketing and Operations team at a global recruitment and executive search firm based in Toronto and specializing advertising, marketing, and web development.

Bitten by the travel bug, I travelled across North America, Europe and parts of Asia, eating everything from musubi from one of Portland, OR’s infamous food trucks to Catalan-style croquettes at Barcelona’s famed Tapas 24. These adventures have served as an unconventional culinary education sharpening my ability to uncover food trends and restaurants before most. I like to boast that I ate at New York’s Estela before Barack Obama did.

I love designing a menu and service for couples that go beyond what we’re used to seeing and eating at weddings. My goal is to create an experience that celebrates the couple while delighting guests, making them feel like they are part of a truly one-of-a-kind event.

Cooking is a calling for me. I grew up in a food-conscious home, so it was inevitable that I would answer the call and start honing my craft early. First at Fanshawe College's apprentice program, then working to earn my Red Seal Certification before the age of 23. I travelled across the pond, working in the world-renowned Oxo Tower Brasserie and Restaurant in London, England. Understanding that eating is the key to good cooking, I followed my tastebuds to many parts of Europe, Asia and the US, discovering new flavours, ingredients and techniques to incorporate in my cuisine.

In 2013, I was awarded a James Beard scholarship and returned to Canada to attend The Art Institute of Vancouver’s Hospitality and Restaurant Business Management program. Learning in both the kitchen and front of house environments, I earned a Merit Award and made both the President’s List and the Dean’s List at the Institute.

I have had the honour of working in some of London, ON’s top restaurants including Idelwyld Inn, David’s Bistro, Tru Restaurant and Lounge, The Church Key, North Moore Catering, The River Room at Museum London, Abruzzi Ristorante, and more recently, Milos' Craft Beer Emporium.

I love collaborating with clients to create the right menu that represents their union but also delights guests.
