We hired Donna and her team at Savoury City for our wedding at the UBC Boathouse. Food was the most important part of our wedding and we are extremely happy that we went with Savoury City on this one!

Donna was organized, professional and passionate with her work. She worked with us and our planner to develop a custom family-style menu that incorporated the specific elements from Chinese cuisines that we wanted, into dishes that are also welcomed by the western palates. During our menu tasting, my spouse and I were so impressed by all the dishes that we were convinced that they were made by someone who grew up in a Chinese household (and we did meet the head chef later who was of Chinese background). For one of the appetizers, the chef even re-created a dish from our favorite restaurant. Donna and her team were also open to all constructive feedback, even though there were few, and we felt very comfortable sharing our honest opinions on the tasting.

Donna’s team took allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously. In addition to a few guests with relatively common allergens, we had a guest who had allergies to multiple common ingredients (e.g. gluten, garlic, onion, mushroom etc.) and Donna’s team was able to work around those and curate a special plate. Their thorough consideration covers not only what ends up on the plate, but also the marination process and what ingredients the sauces are made from.

On our wedding day, Donna’s team brought our menu to life and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! One of the feedback we got from the guest was "when they brought out the braised short ribs in the end at first I thought it was chocolate cake and I was like ok that's an interesting follow up to the menu. And then when the wait staff set it down I realized it was a MOUNTAIN OF MEAT!" Needless to say, all the food was enjoyed, including the mountain of meat. While waiting near the kitchen entrance, we also enjoyed catching a glimpse of Donna running the pass checking on each dish before sending it off to “table 1” and “table 2”. It was so cool to see and we had no doubt that the guest experience would be everything we expected and more. Donna is a true professional through and through and it was such a pleasure to be working with her and the team.

We selected Savoury City as our caterer after narrowing down choices based on reviews. The tasting and flexibility won us over as we wanted to mix both Vietnamese and Western dishes in our mixed culture wedding. It went perfectly. The food was delicious and Sarah our event coordinator from Savoury worked her magic to arrange not only the reception but the beautiful chair and table decor for the ceremony as well. Savoury City far exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend them to any couple seeking the magical wedding they dreamed of. Thanks to Sarah for all her amazing work! Donna was amazing, she took the most detailed notes the first time we met. Our tasting was fabulous, we got to taste everything and we liked every single item! She has a great team and they provided excellent service, and she went above and beyond to make sure our reception is worry free for me on my big day :) Definitely recommend Savoury City if you are looking for one of a kind menu, and absolutely delicious food.

From the moment we walked into the office, we knew that this experience was going to be different. Donna has a passion and genuine love for both the people around her and her work. She is incredibly patient, professional and imaginative. She was with us throughout the entire planning process- giving us valuable help and support not only around the food but many other aspects of our wedding. And life in general...

We had a loose vision of what we wanted for food at our wedding, and Donna and her team took those ideas and exceeded our expectations at every turn creating a fabulous menu that was integral to the experience. They coined it "Nantucket Italian," and it was those two words that would set a theme for our day. And, when it came to the big day the experience was perfection. The fabulous, fresh and locally sourced grazing table, the bespoke cocktails and epicurean styled dinner with all of our favorite things were all perfect start to finish. To this day, our friends comment that the food at our wedding was some of the best that they have ever enjoyed at a wedding (or otherwise!). The support staff on the day of were so warm, friendly, funny and efficient. They were lovely to us and our guests and professional throughout.

We hired Savoury City for our wedding and it was one of the best choices we've ever made! Donna and her team are friendly, professional, and so talented! Their level of customer service is impeccable - from our consultation meeting, to our tasting, to the site visit, to the actual wedding day - everything was perfect. Donna pays attention to every little detail, and was totally on board for us providing our own cake, liquor, and late night snack. On top of all this, the food was AMAZING! Our guests were raving about our food all night!! I would highly recommend Savoury City - especially Donna!

Savoury City was amazing! Joey helped us all the way through -- from helping us decide what would work best food-wise (to help us give our guests a variety to taste), to helping us select our rentals, making adjustments, and of course, answering all of our questions. He was there every step of the way! He was always super responsive, and super detailed oriented -- our go-to for making sure our vision for the reception came together. The day-of, he and his team were stellar! All our guests were floored by how professional and present the servers were -- making sure we always had enough wine in our glasses, and serving food so promptly. By the end of dinner, everyone was stuffed with all the delicious food! If we'd have to do it again, definitely Savoury City all the way!

The Savoury City team was great in the planning process and day of the wedding. The quoting process was easy and so professional as all the costs and details were laid out. The tasting was delicious we kept everything we originally chose! The food on the day of the wedding was so good, some of our guests had thirds. Everyone that worked the day of the wedding were so kind, making sure the bridal parties had food during cocktail hour while also serving our guests. The bussing and cleaning was endless, it was spotless. Bartenders were social and fun serving everyone.

Donna and her team were an absolute dream to work with!! She came to the venue site with us several times to do walk through and to make sure that everything will be organized on the day of. Her emails were always full of positivity and Donna is one of the main reasons we were really excited planning the wedding, knowing that we will be in good hands with her in charge. She was not only our caterer, but she also organized all of the rentals for us, which was a big weight lifted off our shoulders because we would have no idea where to begin. She worked closely with our budget and made sure that we were comfortable with everything from beginning to end. The food, needless to say, was delicious!! We had been thinking of the food since doing the tasting 3 months before our wedding, and on the day of it did not disappoint at all.
