Jacques is the soul of Salt and Sear. He discovered a love for cooking at the age of 5 when he and his mother moved to Canada from Lusaka, Zambia. Jacquesโ mother loved to cook, and would often be found singing and dancing in the kitchen, cooking up a storm before heading to bed after a midnight shift at 2. Jacques would awake to the intoxicating scents of her neighbourhood-famous South African sausage and eggs. From that early start, the love for good food and sharing that love with others grew into a passion for him. He has travelled the world, stepping foot on almost every continent in search of cultural flavours from around the world. He now brings that passion, knowledge and experience to every dish he creates for Salt and Sear today.
Janice is the heart of Salt and Sear. She takes pride in making sure that every event for every client goes off without a hitch, whether itโs for 5 people or 500. She and her husband Jacques are the perfect pairing.
