Established in 2002, 1st in Entertainment aims to provide top quality and reliable DJ services. The business was founded by Sean Goebel and Nolan Sontag, who highly value integrity, honesty, reliability, and service. They work hard to make their clients happy. Continual improvement is one of their core values.

Experience

An active local musician, Sean is a graduate from the University of Calgary music program. He also teaches classical guitar and performs country and bluegrass music - he has produced and engineered numerous professional original albums. He has 15 years of experience as a mobile DJ and loves to work with people. He loves to work the crowd, take requests and express his creative expression with "colouful buttons and twisty knobby bits." Sean is about fun, entertainment and great customer service.

Free consultations are offered by the business, along with custom-built online planning tools for clients. For every event, top-notch professional AV gear is available including battery powered up-lighting.

Best DJ Ever!!

Thank you Sean for being the best DJ for our wedding! You had everyone on the dance floor and kept our rowdy crowd going till 2 in the morning (plus some guitar playing at the fire afterwards!). We danced so hard we broke our dance floor haha success!! Definitely highly recommend you for every wedding!

Sean Goebel DJ'd our wedding this past weekend, and he was fantastic! He setup and started on time, had perfect timing during the processional and recessional music with the ceremony, and kept everyone dancing throughout the night. He was very responsive in getting the quote and setting up the contract, and kept in touch throughout the planning process. Is highly recommend him for any event, and his pricing is very reasonable.

I left important song selections up to Sean and I don't think he could have picked more fitting songs for us. He was very outgoing with the group we had and didn't hesitate to switch up the songs if there was no one dancing, which I really liked. I also requested a specific version of a song to be played live and it was perfect! "Over the Rainbow" was performed perfectly as well. We also received a unexpected surprised when Sean sang "1000 Miles" live for the dancers. Everyone loved it and I heard about it for weeks! I couldn't have asked for a better DJ for my wedding and I will suggest to any friends/family that are looking for a DJ in the future. Thanks again Nolan, couldn't have asked for better!!!

Sean was an extremely positive, responsive professional who worked well with us throughout planning and on the night of our wedding. He read the crowd extremely well and we were thrilled with his work. We would recommend Sean and 1st in Entertainment to anyone looking for a wedding or special events DJ. The price was also fantastic.

Professional, confident setup that left me with no worries at all. Sean knew what he was doing, and despite the windy day, setup the audio system perfectly for the outdoor portion of the show. The ambient lighting he recommended was perfect for the venue and our decor.

My sister asked Nolan to play an Enrique Iglesias song and he was very up front in telling her that he only had the uncut version. Trish was extremely grateful that he told her ahead of time, as she chose not to have it played because we had a group of young kids, some smaller children, and several older people at our dance. In fact, she called Nolan 'gracious' and helpful!

We also found Nolan very understanding, especially when he had to wait for 1/2 an hour (with us) until the person with the key arrived to open the hall door. He never grumbled or made us feel badly about the mix-up.

We were extremely impressed with the pricing for your services. We couldn't afford a lot, and our daughter had decided to just use an iPod for the dance. I checked out DJ's and 1st in Entertainment was the best price and- ultimately- the BEST music!

We were very impressed with the incredible choice of songs, and the fact that Nolan offered to let our small band (who did 5 songs for the Bride and Groom) plug into the sound system, made me feel really comfortable. I sure wish we'd have taken him up on his offer! Our dance floor was full the entire night and everyone had a wonderful time. We are still hearing compliments about the great music, and I will DEFINITELY recommend 1st in Entertainment to anyone needing a DJ. In fact, if we put on another function, you're hired!

Thanks for the fabulous evening, Nolan- it was everything we hoped for!
