****UPDATE - spoke to Atheson on the phone after over a month of trying to get ahold of him. He proceeded to try to gaslight us into saying we were comparing him to a family friend from the get-go. This is quite literally impossible as we were not searching around for other DJ’s and we’re not aware of any family friends or family members that are DJ’s. He kept referring to his quote and the e-transfer as a binding agreement. I brought attention tot he fact that as a business he does have a legal obligation to ensure his clients know if his terms and conditions, and nowhere in any emails or any quotes does it say the deposit is non-refundable. Not only this, when we expressed that we were uncomfortable with not having a contract, he told us that it’s one of the busiest weekends in the summer and he’d refund the deposit no problem if we needed to cancel. He’s now denying this. He kept saying that it’s a binding agreement to look at a quote and send a deposit over despite that we were lead to believe that it would be refundable. He kept saying that my email to him was a cancellation, yet he’d fallen off the face of the earth, and hadn’t bothered confirming any sort of cancellation or advising us of any non-refundables. I kept trying to explain that if he’d advised the services were non refundable we wouldn’t have made any decision to cancel the services. Eventually he let out a nice “UGHHHHHHHHH” into the phone and hung up. I guess he really did take our $250 and run. ****

Disappointing Experience with Atheson at Nine Entertainment. Took deposit and fell off the face of the earth. Been trying to contact for over a month.

Our experience with Atheson has been deeply disappointing.

We called looking for Nine Entertainment in the GTA but we got the wrong number. Atheson expressed that they’d stolen his name and he had been fighting them for years. This was my first warning, but like an excited new bride-to-be, I ignored it. It’s not professional.

We had a couple of phone calls with Atheson before agreeing to e-transfer a deposit over. He didn’t sound the most up beat but my fiancée wanted to book with him.

Atheson told us they do not have contracts which made me uncomfortable. He told me to just put what I want into an email and that was enough.

We e-transfered him the $200 deposit and he actually contacted me to ask for another $50 e-transfer as it should have been $250. All of our other vendors have been incredibly loose with this as we’ve upgraded services, and tried to navigate this whole wedding thing which is new to us.

Despite not contracting, Atheson assured us that our $250 deposit would be refunded if we needed to cancel, given that it’s the busiest time of the year. However, after reaching out a month ago to explain our situation and request the cancellation, our calls, texts, and emails have all been ignored.

He answered the one time I blocked my number and rushed me off the phone. He told me he’d call back later that day. He didn’t.

This lack of communication has left us unsure if we even have a DJ for our wedding, causing significant stress and anxiety. The broken trust and unreliability we’ve encountered make us highly concerned about their services on such an important day. I feel as though we’ve dodged a bullet because I don’t even think he would have shown up.

We cannot recommend Nine Entertainment based on this experience. We recommend going to someone who offers a signed agreement, who sounds like they want to be a part of your special day, and who actually has reviews on Facebook. We shouldn’t have jumped at the first DJ we spoke to. We were just excited and we trust more than we should.

Atheson was really easy to work with, he responded to all of our requests promptly and kept the party going all night long with great music! Highly recommend.
