Step By Step Professional DJ & MC Services located in Whitby, Ontario. Step By Step Pro DJ is a member of the Whitby Chamber Of Commerce and the CDJA (Canadian Disc Jockey Association). Shawn has been DJing for countless years through his performances in weddings, corporate events, nightclubs, boat cruises, school events, radio appearances, and private parties. His company covers several music genres, such as country, electronic, hip-hop, international, jazz, oldies, and pop.
Services offered
Step by Step is fully insured and also offers services such as master of ceremonies, a do-not-play list, and more. A complete wedding package can also be provided that includes a free consultation before the event. This package covers eight hours of DJ and MC services as well as the following services: -
- Setup done before the arrival of guests
- DJ console with two speakers on stands
- One semi-intelligent dancing light
- One wireless microphone with batteries
- Access to the online client area
The package also includes MC duties for the evening for general announcement and activity facilitation. Various add-ons are also available, including ceremony coverage that includes a separate speaker on a stand, a wireless microphone, background music, and more. An open air photo booth is also available. The photo booth option offers unlimited printing of photos on-site, fun props, and an online gallery after the event. Lighting and technology add-ons are also available if needed. The additional lighting and technology available includes: -
- LED upwall lighting in any colour
- Two moving head intelligent lights on truss
- Star ball/disco ball effect
- Custom name gobo
- Projector and screen rental
- Slideshow created with music
- Dry ice for first dance
- Live musicians
Other services
Packages are also provided for corporate events, along with MC services if required. School dances, proms, fundraisers, and other events are also covered by the business. Shawn also provides DJ lessons for interested students. In these lessons, Shawn covers: -
- Beat match with different genres of music
- MC for events such as weddings, clubs, corporate, schools, and more
- Using digital programs to DJ, including file transfers and music organization
- Scratching and effect uses
- Mixer techniques
- Recording live and in studio

Exactly what we hoped for
Amazing DJ!
From the day we booked him, to our planning meeting, he was fantastic!! Even when we had to cancel he was understanding. We wish we could have had the full reception with all of his services, but we will make sure to always recommend Shawn for future events. If we plan a party next year, he will be our go to DJ!!

An awesome party thanks to Shawn
The online event planning tool which allowed us to select our music choices was very easy to use and made it easy to adjust details such as our timeline and song choices as we moved forward with the planning process.
Shawn provided music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. He played every song and style of music exactly as we requested, and when we didn't have any requests the music that he selected fit perfectly for our wedding.
He also served as our emcee and did a fantastic job! He has a fun, outgoing personality and definitely knows how to work a room. Our guests had a fantastic time at our reception and I know that is in large part due to Shawn.
Additionally, we booked an open air photo booth through Shawn which provided guests with an abundance of props to use and printed out photo strips as keepsakes. This was a huge hit with our guests! It was a lot of fun and at the end of the night we were given a USB which contained high-resolution copies of every photo taken in the booth that night.
The total cost for both the Platinum DJ package and for the photo booth was under $2000, which I thought was very reasonable and certainly worth it for the excellent service that we received.
