Meet the team
Christopher Minor was born in Los Angeles, California and became a staple of the Southern California rave scene at the age of 17. In his late 20's he moved to Las Vegas where he spent 5 years Djing raves and clubs on the Las Vegas strip!
In the mid-2000's his journey then took him to Canada where he once again immersed himself in the rave scene. Up to this point, he had not once DJ'ed a wedding.
In 2007 he was asked by a girlfriend to Dj her friend's wedding. With no previous experience Chris dove into online playlists, forums, YouTube and anything else he could, to see how a wedding was done. Unfortunatly it wasn't enough. While not a complete trainwreck he understood that his skills were seriously lacking in this department so he joined a mobile DJ company and began doing nothing but weddings!
Chris quickly realized that there was no structure, no training, no protocols, and no best practices within this industry. All that was available was what DJs were willing to pass on to other DJs and no two DJs ever did anything the same way. This is where he got the idea to create a DJ training program, and it worked! Within a few months the revolving door of DJs within the company he worked at stopped. The quality became consistant, the reviews were pouring in and the company became known as the best DJ company in the city. Thus, the "Wedding DJ Handbook" was born.
With great power though, comes great responsibility and the company eventually began engaging in practices and moving in a direction that went against Chris's morals and ethics. No longer convinced that the company could provide the services they were promising clients, he did what most people in that situation would do; he created his own company, a different kind of DJ company.
Vegas Entertainment was built from the ground up based on a foundation of transparency, honesty, and integrity. Within the first year the company reached levels most companies don't see until well into their 5th or 6th year of business. It didn't take long for Chris to realize that it wasn't the programs or processes he had created that made clients and industry professionals want to work with him, it was his passion to the art, the culture and the industry.
Today Vegas Entertainment remains a small business focused on the 3 cores that it was originally founded. Chris insists on only doing a handful of shows a night to ensure quality, attention to detail, and a personal touch is given to each and every client and their event. To date he has not lost a single DJ that joined him when he started and he continues to DJ events personally without charging a single cent extra to do so!
Chris is also an outspoken activist within the industry advocating for DJs to get proper training and experience before attempting to DJ a wedding on their own and to stop the practice of outsourcing events to other DJ companies. Using weddings as training, or overbooking events then getting other companies to cover them are all too common practices within the industry that need to stop. Chris blogs on the website and facebook about all manners of Djing within the wedding industry not just to educate, but to raise the standards of the wedding industry too!
