Great Experience!
Florist with Great Design Eye
Fete wasn’t on my radar until we met at a Sunnybrook Estates Open House Event. From there I researched and saw a couple stand out weddings on her website but I was not seeing the florals I wanted on her Instagram (her style seemed more traditional and structured).
Nevertheless, we met and I loved Paulina’s approach to consultation – she did a PowerPoint to communicate blooms and styling. She always made time for me – her customer service skills, responsiveness, knowledge of cost / availability / heartiness of blooms was impressive. She also has a kickass sense of humor and general good vibes.
Paulina was amazing at working within my budget, getting biggest bang for buck and she came up with a watercolour concept that saved me the expense of a décor planner and helped define a vision for all visual elements outside of florals (like invites etc.). Only thing is she didn’t use high end greens throughout all centrepieces etc. but that may have been due to budget (i.e. salal over ruscus / eucalyptus).
Paulina has great connections with suppliers and included votive walls and a printed panel in head table design. We also got to keep the panel, which we plan to frame and put in our living room. She is the middle ground – she has a limited inventory of supplies but organizes the full rental plan at O.K. prices.
I absolutely loved the bouquets. While I’ve seen more creative boutonniere and corsage designs out there, it wasn’t super important to me. On the day I didn’t have issues – everything appeared as promised, on time and as described (reception décor was a race). Overall a very happy customer ☺
Another major issue was substitution of flowers. In all fairness, it does say in their terms and conditions that substitutions can be made if need be at the discretion of Fete but that they always substitute for a higher quality of flower. While we appreciate the need for them to include a clause like that in the contract, we didn't realize that SO MANY flowers would be substituted! Substitutions were made for the boutonnieres, pew markers, the 2 standards, and all of the centerpieces. Also, the colour tones that we discussed and outlined in our contract did not match the overall final products (i.e. the boutonnieres were incorrect, there was a lot of greenery in the centerpieces when I told them we didn't want any, the wrong shades of some of the colours were used). Ultimately we were disappointed that so many substitutions were made and that we were not informed about this prior to our wedding day.
In the end, we spent a lot of money on flowers and we didn't receive the product or level of service that we were expecting. Though we loved the bridal bouquet and bridesmaids’ bouquets (the ones that were delivered on time), the rest of our experience with Fete left a sour taste in our mouths. We recommend booking a florist that pays greater attention to detail.
The floral and decor were breathtaking. She was able to decipher my sometimes undecisiveness and design ceremony that was grand yet intimate, full of style and elegance.
We received many compliments and couldn't be happier.
