Owner Cortney Wilson celebrated her 18th year in the beauty industry as a licensed professional in 2023. She created Knot Your Average Styles in 2015 while planning her own wedding. She loved the experience of planning and saw a need for a strong, mobile team committed to customer service that was fun and offers a great overall experience. So, she created her own brand representing what clients needed and most of all wanted. Ta~da!!! Knot Your Average Styles was born! From there her finely curated and hand chosen on-site team of highly qualified (and most importantly certified) professional hair and makeup Artists grew.

Prior to starting her own business Cortney travelled the world where she landed in Whistler, BC for 3 years. She was so inspired by nature and the creative juices started flowing. Her talent was found in the foundations of the beauty world amongst the mountains and a stylist was born! Before starting her own business she worked at Award winning Onare Salon in the Greater Toronto Area. While there as a Senior Artist she was the Creative Director and served as a Senior Educator as well. She still loves to teach and continues to do so. She loves to work with her clients as well as doing creative editorial work that has been featured on Brides.com, The knot, Black Bride Magazine, Vinyard Bride magazine, Wedding Wire, Oceanic Magazine, Surreal Magazine, the Red Carpet at the Much Music Video Awards, eventsource.ca and others.
