5 Ways to Serve Cereal at Your Wedding
Cereal can be way more than just an easy breakfast or midnight snack - here are a few of our favourite ways to serve it.
While it is a great way to start your day, cereal isn’t strictly a breakfast food. If you can’t get enough of Cheerios, Froot Loops and Rice Krispies, make them part of your menu on your big day. Though cereal may not be a wedding-worthy dish on its own, it can be used to create some amazing dishes that guests of all ages will love.
Here are a few ways to serve cereal at your wedding.
As hors d’oeuvres
Start your cocktail hour off on the right foot by serving delicious and nutritious parfait shots. These itty bitty apps layered with cereal (usually granola), yogurt and fruit are the perfect sweet - but not too sweet - treat to indulge in before dinner. Feel free to play around with flavours, after all, variety is the spice of life. Pro tip: these also work great at post-wedding brunches.
As a cocktail
Give your wedding’s boozy bevvies the breakfast treatment by using cereal as your inspiration. Ask your mixologist to help you create drool-worthy signature cocktails by infusing them with your favourite morning meal. Cereal milk white russians? Totally a thing. Cocoa Puff Martinis? You can make ‘em happen. Or what about this Make New Friends cocktail featuring Lucky Charms?
As a dessert
One of the hottest trends right now is using cereal to dress up desserts. Jump on the bandwagon and use donuts sprinkled with Froot Loops and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cupcakes to take your sweet table to the next level. If you really love cereal you can even ask your baker to toss it into your wedding cake batter and smother your star confection with cereal milk icing.
As a late night snack
Pretty much every human with cereal in their cupboard has treated themselves to a late night bowl or two. While I’m sure none of your guests would say no to some good ‘ol Lucky Charms around eleven, we suggest going with something a little more creative. If you’re into savoury stuff, cornflake-coated fried chicken is definitely an option (serve it alongside waffles for a trend-forward dish). Or, if you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, try cereal milk ice cream tacos sprinkled crushed cereal flakes.
At your post-wedding brunch
Obviously, breakfast is where cereal really shines. Create a DIY cereal bar with your favourite varieties - from Cap’n Crunch to healthier muesli mixes - so that your guests can craft their perfect morning bowl. Don’t forget to have a few fun milk options on hand to make things even more interesting (including nut milks for your dairy-free pals!).
