Want to fill your wedding menu with comfort food? Adding grilled cheese is a must. This dish may not be the most gourmet option out there, but it sure is a crowd pleaser. Whether you’re in need of some amazing hors d’oeuvres or want to wow your guests with an innovative dessert, we suggest giving grilled cheese a chance.

Here are a few ways to serve grilled cheese at your wedding.

As hors d’oeuvres
Kick off your wedding eats with mini grilled cheeses at your cocktail hour. If you want to go above and beyond, balance the bite sized sammies on top of shots of tomato soup. Though they’re small, these sandwiches are way more substantial than crudites and will give your guests plenty of energy to mix and mingle.

As a main course
Grilled cheese may not sound like a typical wedding main, but who wants to stick to the status quo? Serve your guests some gourmet grilled cheeses for their main course. Even the pickiest eaters won’t complain about something as mouthwatering as lobster grilled cheese.

As a dessert
Grilled cheese doesn’t have to be a savoury dish. With the right bread and fillings, it can be an amazing sweet treat, too. Choose a more decadent cheese, like mascarpone, and pair it with fresh fruit and nutella. Top the whole thing off with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and you’ll be left with a seriously delicious dessert. This one can get a little messy, so you’ll definitely want to have some forks and knives on hand.

As a late night snack
Think your guests will need a bit of pick me up halfway through the evening? Instead of going gourmet, serve up a few trendy twists on the classic, like mac n’ cheese grilled cheeses, pulled pork grilled cheeses and rainbow grilled cheeses. These tasty carb-heavy sammies will help your friends and relatives refuel when they start powering down.

At your post-wedding brunch
How do you make a breakfast sandwich even better? Make a it a grilled cheese breakfast sandwich. Press cheese, eggs, bacon and other breakfast staples between some buttery brioche bread and, voila! You’ve got an amazing brunch dish that all your guests will be grabbing for. Bonus: not only does it taste great, but it’ll also be an awesome hangover helper for your friends that partied a little too hard.
