Over 10 years ago, when I was planning my own wedding, I was surprised to discover that there was not a single band in Toronto and the GTA that described themselves as a dedicated Motown & Soul act. I believed then, as I still do to this day, that Soul and Motown music is uniquely powerful at bringing together crowds of different ages and backgrounds onto the dancefloor and that this genre would provide the ultimate soundtrack for the celebration. It turned out that while there were numerous fun wedding bands that played a handful of the classic hits from this era, the rest of their sets were filled with pop and rock hits from the 70's to today. Unsurprisingly, they routinely came off as generic. They lacked a true identity. So, a few months after my wedding, I started The Intentions. A band with a clear vision: to be the best Soul & Motown band in the country. All these years later, I believe we are.

In addition to the great pride I take in the music we perform, I also take great satisfaction in the genuine relationships we foster with our couples. When you send us your inquiry, your message won't be sent to a salesperson, followed by an event planner, followed by a musical director, and so on... As the sole manager and owner, I'll be the one to reach out to you, to give you a call and help you gauge how we might fit and add to your special day. I'll help you navigate the myriad of decisions to be made, to plan your schedule, and to run the day of the event seamlessly. But most importantly, I'll also be the one on stage, making sure that the band delivers the absolute best and most memorable party possible for all of your family and friends!
