Meet the team
A dear friend asked me to officiate their wedding 13 years ago, in 2006. And that was the beginning of my love affair with the wedding industry. I have experience doing stand up comedy, and organizing and planning many large events, so I am very comfortable speaking in front of people. I have a gift of putting people at ease, and making people laugh. And this, makes my job as a marriage commissioner come naturally to me. Retired from Manitoba Hydro for over a year now, allows me to put all my energy into my company, A Perfect Ceremony I Do! And that’s a dream come true! I love getting to personally know all the amazing vendors and venues. I love meeting new couples, hearing their love story and then telling it in their ceremony. I, myself, have been married for 35 blissful years to a very supportive and very patient man, Rob. I have two wonderful daughters, a terrific son-in-law and an absolute gem of a grand daughter. They are all very supportive, which allows me to do what I love to do. I am so excited and looking forward to another busy season, sharing love stories with honour, humor and love.
Deb and I have been friends for over 25 years, meeting when we both worked at a call center. Immediate connection! We haveplanned and organized many large events and fundraisers together. When she became a marriage commissioner, she kept saying, Susan you must do this! You would be great! So, I did, and have been doing it since 2010. It’s a wonderful, crazy industry, and so very satisfying. I have been a single parent most of my adult life with three amazing and grown children (many, many years of more volunteering), a lovely daughter in law and her beautiful daughter. Recently retired from the insurance industry (phew) and I can now focus solely on what truly inspires me. Being an incredible marriage commissioner! Oh, and winter vacations! I am passionate about what I do. I love the whole process, meeting and getting to know the couple. Being creative and presenting their love story and feelings about marriage and commitment, in the ceremony with class, sincerity, laughter and joy.
I have been a marriage commissioner since 2015. My love for everything wedding started when I was planning my own wedding, which led to officiating my best friends wedding. I fell in love with the industry, the wonderful vendors and all the exciting venues. I was hooked! Ten years of public speaking and presenting in front of large crowds, made for an easy transition to a licensed, professional, marriage commissioner. I’ve been married for almost four, blissful years, and a proud mom to my daughter, Maple. I love animals, rescue pets (I have four), vintage floral everything, the ocean and all sea creatures, and getting to know new people. I have traveled to many places such as Bolivia, Ireland, Scotland, the UK, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. I love adventure and being a marriage commissioner is another great adventure! I love getting to know the couples I work with, hearing their love story and translating that into their ceremony. It is such an incredible honor to share a couples love story, to officiate their ceremony and ensure it is memorable for them and their guests. I love what I do!
