Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
After multiple red flags, we chose to go with another officiant days before our wedding, but unfortunately had to get the police involved.
My wife was recommended Cindy so we paid the deposit and started working with her. Our first request was to alter some of the wording for the ceremony, as neither of us are religious. Cindy was adamant the religious stuff must stay, even though when we asked a couple other officiants, they all said we should have full say in what we want and there is absolutely no reason why she can't change it. That was the first red flag. The next red flag came when Cindy asked us to change the time of our ceremony (after we had sent out the invitations) because she wanted to go to her friends wedding on the same day. The nerve to ask a client who is paying you to change their plans around you is still an unbelievable thought to me. The final red flag came when my wife went to pick-up the wedding license at City Hall. Cindy demanded that she had to go with her and once she paid for the license, Cindy took it with her and said it's her policy to hold onto it until the day of the wedding.
Days before the wedding my wife and I had everything planned out but both of us were worried with the bad vibes we were getting from Cindy, she would put a damper on things. We luckily learned someone we knew was an officiant so decided to go with them instead of Cindy. When we called Cindy to tell her that she could then enjoy her friends wedding and keep the deposit, she told us she wasn't going to give us our own wedding license back until we paid her in full - which isn't stated anywhere in the contract we signed with her. After waiting a couple days for her heart to hopefully grow 3 sizes and give back our own wedding license (and two days before our wedding) I called her to tell her I'll be stopping by her house to pick it up, when she once again stated we'd have to pay her to get it back. At that point we reached out to the local police department and told them the story and showed them the conversations. They agreed that a reverend refusing to give back a government document with our information - which we paid for, is theft and paid her a visit to retrieve the stolen wedding license. After multiple red flags, we chose to go with another officiant days before our wedding, but unfortunately had to get the police involved.

Matt ,
Your wedding was in September 2022 and you are sending me this in December 2024.
I am very sorry that you felt this way, in all my years of being a Reverend I have never had a problem with any one and I have completed over 75 weddings, I have always had glowing reports and have tried my best to make everyone’s day special.
I started meeting with you months ahead of time and chatted with you about your dreams.
When I interview couples, I have template with about 8 pages of questions to go through, the question of any religion is asked. 95% of my wedding ceremonies do not have religion included. Because I am Registered Reverend with the Province of Ontario and must go by their rules. Maybe you aren’t aware that these items that must be included in each wedding Ceremony…vows, intent, declaration , pronouncing….none of these include any religion at any time. You requested to remove these required items. It would not be a LEGAL ceremony according to the Province if they were left out.
I did have another couple who requested my services on the same day, which does happen. Months in advance I asked you if it was possible to change the time of your wedding. I was NOT a demand. It was a request. Since you were not able to accommodate that, I told the other couple I could not perform their Ceremony.
At that time, I took time away from my busy schedule to meet with your future wife at the Municipal Office. On our initial interview, I informed you about keeping the Licence so I could make sure all of the details were completed, filled in as much as possible and colour coded it to save time during the ceremony while the guests would be sitting waiting. A second reason for me retaining the Licence is due to the fact that couple could forget the Licence on the wedding day. If, I don’t have the Licence I could not legally marry you.
We went back and forth many times with draft copies of the Ceremony until you were satisfied with it. I completed the contract, all of the necessary paperwork and drew up the Ceremony as planned and completed all the details as required to your satisfaction at that time.
At the Police request, I gave you back your Licence and you had a full copy of the Ceremony to pass on to the Officiant you chose to perform your wedding. The only necessary requirement of this Officiant was to read the Ceremony I had already prepared.
At that time the Police informed me that I should take you to Civil Court to be paid in full for the work I completed. I decided not to pursue it. There had been enough hard feelings between us, so I just let it go.
Imagine my surprise when 2 years later I received this review.
I wish you and your wife the best of luck in the future.

Beautiful ceremony!
Rev. Cindy made the whole process super easy! She walks you through all the steps to make your ceremony exactly what you want it to be. She is super reliable and commuicates everything with you as clearly as possible. I loved that she provides you with a ceremony script - you know exactly what is going to be included and can make any twneaks needed ahead of time. She's also just a very lovely person to chat with and get to know. Highly recommend!Rev. Cindy made the whole process super easy! Congratulations and I hope everyday is as happy as your wedding day! -

Awful experience
Unfortunately, Cindy let us down in many ways from our poorly run rehearsal to being late to the ceremony, to the submission of paperwork to get our certificate, that we still do not have.. 7 months later - due to multiple errors on the paperwork. I cannot recommend her due to our experience with her.Unfortunately, Cindy let us down in many ways from our poorly run rehearsal to being late to the ceremony, to the submission of paperwork to get our certificate, that we still do not have.. 7 months later - due to multiple errors on the paperwork. On July 20th, 2021, I had a chat with you and Matt about your upcoming wedding for June 18, 2022. At that time, my Ceremony Information Package stated the wedding was scheduled for 3pm. In the year that passed, at no time did you tell me otherwise. I happened to be in the area finishing off other business. At 1:45 Matt called to tell me that your wedding was NOW going to be at 2pm. I rushed to the Venue and was able to conduct the Ceremony on time.
A few weeks prior to the wedding, I received the application from you, it had address errors on it from your input to the Service Ontario Clerk. To make sure the legal portion of the Ceremony was going to be smooth, I accommodated you by going with you to straighten out these address issues.
As for the rehearsal, I conducted it the same as I did for my other completely satisfied Brides & Grooms. I made sure that all of the details were finalized, and everybody knew their place in the Ceremony. We went through the Ceremony details from start to finish with you as well as the rest of the wedding party 2 times, just to validate it. At that time, I also asked if there were any questions or concerns, and everybody agreed that there were none.
I submitted the Marriage Licence Application on June 18th, but it was missing a partial date in 1 location. Once the Registry Office in Thunder Bay received it on their desk it was returned to me in November. The same day I received it, I corrected it and returned it back to the Registry Office. Of course, it goes to the bottom of their paperwork pile for processing.
At Christmas time you notified me that you hadn't received anything yet. I then went above and beyond... to Post Office and sent you my copy of the Application by Registered Mail so that you would have the Registration number to refer to as necessary. It is out of my control over how quickly the Registry Office processes. It hurts me to know that one of my couples are so upset by something that is out of my control.
I am sorry you feel you were not pleased with my services. Over the many years as a Reverend, I have had multitudes of extremely happy Couples, which is why this comes as such a surprise to me.
Sincerely,
Reverend Cindy Ambeault -

I just loved your setting for the wedding and I even enjoyed the walk down the path to get there. Your wedding party was so easy to work with and you were so organized, things went smoothly. I am sure that little bit of rain didn't dampen your Celebration at all. The bag pipes and drummer added that little bit of exhilaration to the ceremony. Good Luck in your home adventures. -

Helpful and Fun!
After a change in plans for our entire wedding due to the pandemic restrictions, Cindy was able to help us make our ceremony the fun and sweet wedding we were always hoping for. She also incorporated a lovely custom handfasting ceremony for us at her suggestion which we loved. Cindy was also great at asking us about a bunch of little details that we hadn't thought of before which is always appreciated when you have so much planning to do!After a change in plans for our entire wedding due to the pandemic restrictions, Cindy was able to help us make our ceremony the fun and sweet wedding we were always hoping for.
