Hi
I want to tell you a bit about me. I grew up in Whitby, Ontario. My parents were from Liverpool, England I am the youngest of 4 children. In high shcool I did a personality test and the results indicated I would be best suited to the military or to be a Minister. I dismissed this information, clearly the test was wrong. I went to McGill University and studied English Literature. After that I went to live in Europe for 2 years. I returned to Canada and worked at different jobs, got married and had children. When my oldest child was born I decided the best fit for our family was for me to stay home. Over the next 13 years we had 3 more. I loved being a stay at home mum and I also home schooled the oldest children up to Grade 9.
My niece asked me to Officiate her wedding and that was the catalyst for me. I had found the work I loved. I completed 2 certificate courses at the Celebrant Foundation and Institute in Weddings and Funerals. I like everything about this work; meeting people, writing (finally my English Lit. degree was serving me!), creating meaningful ceremonies, researching rituals, readings, music and trends. I hope to create many different ceremonies, to date I have performed Weddings and Funerals. I was ordained in March of 2019 as a Metaphysical Minister, so I guess that personality test was partly right.
I have lived in beautiful Owen Sound since December 2008. The beauty that surrounds me continues to inspire me and keeps me centred. I love travelling, I have spent a lot of time in Spain, particularly Basque Country, and also love to visit Wales. I have a horse who is teaching me lessons I didn't even know I had to learn. We also adopted 2 cats, I always thought of myself as a "dog" person but I realize I'm an "animal" person. I speak other languages and can incorporate that into my ceremonies. I feel that because of the travelling I did, I am open to different perspectives and traditions, I know this helps me to be more creative in my practice. I love to laugh, I think humour can heal and it's a great way to connect with people. I have found a calling that I can do as long as I can read and drive so I intend to Officiate for many years to come!
